Hannah wrote \u2064(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.docdroid.net\/9fwRsVv\/maricopa-kari-sept-pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) on \u200cAug. 24 \u200dthat a two-day trial will \u200cstart on\u2063 Sept. 21 at \u200b9 a.m., with exhibits that \u2062will be \u2062submitted during the trial\u2062 due by Sept. \u206214.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier \u200bin the year, a Maricopa County \u200dSuperior Court judge ruled that \u200bMrs. Lake&#8217;s request to access affidavit envelopes shouldn&#8217;t be dismissed. Mr. Hannah wrote in June that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rules-kari-lake-lawsuit-to-get-mail-in-ballot-signatures-will-go-to-trial\/\" title=\"Kari Lake's Lawsuit for Mail-In Ballot Signatures Heads to Trial, Judge Decides.\">county \u2063recorders \u200dgenerally include ballot affidavit\u200b envelopes<\/a> in voter registration records, saying that the court is \u201cnot required to defer \u2064to the elections officials \u2062in how \u2063they have historically interpreted\u201d the law.<\/p>\n<p>He refuted arguments that were submitted \u2064by Maricopa County lawyers,\u200c who had argued ballot affidavit signatures are a portion of the voter registration record. They&#8217;re also considered confidential under state law, the lawyers\u2063 said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am\u200c not convinced that the ballot affidavit is \u2064a voter\u2063 registration record,\u201d Mr.\u200c Hannah\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/azcapitoltimes.com\/news\/2023\/06\/26\/judge-declines-to-dismiss-lakes-bid-for-access-to-ballot-affidavit-envelopes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> the Arizona Capitol Times two \u2062months ago.\u2064 \u201cIt is a record from which the \u200belection officials derive information that\u2064 becomes part of\u2063 the voter \u200bregistration record, but\u2063 that doesn\u2019t \u2064mean the\u2064 ballot affidavit itself\u2064 is a voter registration record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starting last\u200d year, Mrs. Lake has attempted to contest the\u2063 results\u2062 of the 2022 election in court, while her Democrat\u2064 opponent, Katie Hobbs, was\u2063 sworn in as governor in\u2063 early January. Multiple courts \u2062in Arizona have dismissed her lawsuits, although Mrs. Lake has said she will take her challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court, if need be.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Lake, a former local television\u200b anchor, \u2063argued that thousands of Republican voters were disenfranchised on Election Day, in part, due to voting machine problems that were confirmed by Maricopa County\u200c officials on that day. The\u200d GOP candidate\u200d has\u2062 also pointed\u200d to what she \u2063called problems with Maricopa&#8217;s signature verification process on mail-in ballots.<\/p>\n<p>Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer,\u200c meanwhile, has announced \u2063he was suing\u200c Mrs. \u2064Lake for defamation and alleged she falsely accused him\u2062 of misdeeds during the 2022 election. Last\u200b week, Mrs. Lake filed a motion and \u200basked Maricopa County Superior \u2062Court Judge Jay Adleman to dismiss Mr. Richer\u2019s defamation lawsuit because it \u2064violates\u2064 state law.<\/p>\n<p>Her lawyers said in the court filing that Mr. Richer\u2019s lawsuit should be thrown out \u200bbecause he brought the suit to \u201cdeter, retaliate \u200bagainst, and prevent Defendants\u2019 lawful exercise of\u2063 their free speech rights on the core public \u2063issue of election integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Senate Race?<\/h2>\n<p>At the same time,\u2064 Mrs. Lake has signaled that they may run \u200dfor Arizona&#8217;s Senate seat in 2024, potentially setting up a \u200cthree-way battle \u200bbetween her, former Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.),\u2063 and Democratic Senate candidate\u2062 Reuben Gallego, currently a House representative.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Arizona Sen.
