We will have that formal \u200ccommunication,\u201d she said in a meeting with business\u2064 officials.<\/p>\n<p>She is the latest Biden administration \u2064official to travel to Beijing in an effort to strengthened communications, particularly \u200bover the\u200b economy and defense, as the economic friction between the world\u2019s two largest economies threatens to shake business relationships on \u2063both sides.<\/p>\n<p>Raimondo told reporters that she had discussed concerns\u200b over China\u2019s effective ban on\u2062 purchases \u200bof Micron Technology memory chips with her Chinese counterpart. <\/p>\n<p>Shares \u200cof \u2064Micron rose 3% and\u2064 Intel was up 1.4% in early trading on the news, first reported by Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>As part\u200c of the\u200c discussions, Washington and Beijing also agreed to a new \u2063formal\u2062 working group on commercial \u200bissues as \u2062well \u2062as the informational exchange\u2062 on export \u2064control enforcement, the\u2063 U.S. Commerce Department said.<\/p>\n<p>The launch of the \u2063exchange\u200c would provide\u2064 a \u201cplatform to reduce \u200bmisunderstandings of U.S. national security policies,\u201d \u2062Raimondo said, adding: \u201cWe are not compromising or negotiating on matters of national security. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first in-person meeting of \u2063the export control information exchange \u2064will be led on \u2062the U.S. side by Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement Matthew Axelrod\u2064 at the Ministry of Commerce, in Beijing,\u00a0on Tuesday, \u200dRaimondo added. A senior\u2064 official said the exchange will meet at least yearly and emphasized it \u200dis not\u200c a policy dialogue but an\u2062 effort for both sides to answer\u200c questions about how\u2062 export controls work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not\u2062 negotiating what our policies\u2063 are going to be,\u201d the official added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u2062 United\u2063 States is\u200c committed \u2064to be transparent about \u2063our export control enforcement strategy,\u201d \u2064she said. \u201cTo show you how real this is, the first meeting of that \u2064new information\u200b exchange is tomorrow in Beijing.
