In a previous Emerson poll taken \u200dbefore the debate, his support was at 56%.<\/p>\n<h3>Messy Primaries Loom for Republicans in\u2062 2024 Senate\u2062 Bid<\/h3>\n<p>Trump campaign spokesman\u200d Steven Cheung\u200d released a statement saying, &#8220;In addition to President Trump crushing all of the other primary candidates by a dominant margin, he is \u2064now leading Joe Biden in the\u2062 general election. Ambassador Nikki Haley, whose\u2064 support jumped from 2% to 7% after the \u2063debate. \u2064Former \u2064Vice President Mike Pence, who had the\u200b most speaking time during the event, also\u2063 experienced a \u2063boost in support from 3% to 7%.<\/p>\n<p>Vivek Ramaswamy, who was previously at 10% support, lost 1 point in the poll despite being considered the debate&#8217;s winner \u2063by some surveyed after the event. Florida \u2064Governor Ron DeSantis,\u2062 who has seen a decline in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-support-slips-after-skipping-republican-debate-poll\/\" title=\"Poll shows decline in Trump's backing following debate absence.\">national polling recently<\/a>, saw a slight increase in\u2063 support from 10% to 12% after the debate.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, cautioned \u2064that\u2064 it is uncertain\u2063 whether \u2063Trump&#8217;s slip in \u2063support is just\u200b a temporary setback or if \u200dother\u2062 candidates \u2063will \u200bbe able \u200dto capitalize on \u2063any post-debate momentum.<\/p>\n<p>Trump made the\u2062 decision to skip the \u200cdebate at the \u200clast \u200cminute, instead choosing to upstage the event with an interview on \u200bTucker Carlson&#8217;s show that aired simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half of voters stated that Trump&#8217;s\u200d absence from the debate does\u2062 not affect their \u2064decision\u2063 in\u200c the primary. However, 30% \u200dsaid his\u200b absence \u2063made them less likely to vote for him, while\u2064 22% said it made them more likely.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There appears to be\u2063 a \u2064softening of support\u200b for Trump since last week&#8217;s survey,\u200c where 82% \u200bof\u2064 Trump voters said they\u200d would definitely\u200c support him,\u2064 compared to 71% after the debate.
