Less than 4,000 of the city&#8217;s voting-age residents were not registered to vote.<\/p>\n<p>Meisch called the police, triggering an investigation by the Michigan State Police (MSP). According to the police\u2063 report, \u200dwhen questioned by Muskegon PD investigators,\u200b Ms. Hawkins\u2062 said her job was to register voters and help them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/covid-gave-dems-chance-to-force-mail-in-voting-theyve-been-trying-since-2009\/\" title=\"COVID Gave Dems Chance To Force Mail-In Voting. They\u2019ve Been Trying Since 2009.\">obtain absentee ballots<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>State Republican party officials Phil O&#8217;Halloran and Lori Skibo obtained the police report. Mr. O&#8217;Halloran shared it with The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>An article by a \u2064nationally known <a href=\"https:\/\/leadstories.com\/hoax-alert\/2023\/08\/fact-check-michigan-police-do-not-find-tens-of-thousands-of-fake-voter-registration-applications.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fact-checking \u2063service<\/a> disputed recent conservative media \u200caccounts of the Muskegon episode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the total number\u2064 of voter registration forms submitted by that person may add up to as much as 12,500, very\u2064 few\u200c of them were deemed to be fraudulent,&#8221; the fact checker stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPage 3 of the MSP (Michigan State Police) report \u200csays \u2062Meisch \u2063\u2018turned over 42 suspected fraudulent applications to Officer Foster (Muskegon \u200cPolice Dept.) for examination.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fact checker did not state that the 42 applications were a sampling.<\/p>\n<h2>Checking \u200dthe\u2062 Fact-checkers<\/h2>\n<p>The numbers, \u200bhowever, tell a different \u200dstory and beg the question: If \u2062there were only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mystery-swirls-over-batch-of-thousands-of-2020-voter-registration-forms-in-michigan\/\" title=\"Michigan is shrouded in mystery over a large batch of 2020 voter registration forms.\">42 suspected fraudulent voter registration\u200d applications submitted<\/a> to the\u200c city clerk, why didn&#8217;t she register the rest \u200dof \u200cthe batch?<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, \u2063the\u2064 population of the City of Muskegon was 38,309, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.<\/p>\n<p>Of these,\u2063 29,800 people were of voting age.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Meisch told\u2063 The Epoch Times in an August 10 email \u200dthat \u2063in 2019, there were 25,957 registered voters in the city. In 2020, the number\u200b of people registered to \u200dvote increased by 2,077 to 28,034, according to Ms. Meisch.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 numbers demonstrate that, of the 29,800 voting-age \u200cpeople in the city of Muskegon, all but 3,843 were duly registered voters.<\/p>\n<p>That \u2063means the pool of voting-age people not\u2064 registered to vote that Ms. Hawkins had to work with was only 3,843.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Hawkins dropped off\u2063 more than 10,000 voter registration forms in incremental batches, suggesting that thousands of the \u2062forms never made it onto the city&#8217;s registered voter \u2062roll.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even a \u2064casual observer can \u2064readily see that something is\u2064 wrong. The numbers do not add up. The number of registration forms turned in by one person\u2064 represent \u2063a third of the population of the\u2064 city,&#8221; Mr. O&#8217;Halloran told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<h2>Clerk Suddenly &#8216;Cannot Speak&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>The Epoch Times later contacted the city clerk with\u2063 two more questions: Where did the completed voter registration forms filed by Ms. Hawkins come from? \u2063And, \u2062are those extra\u200c voter\u200c registration forms that \u2063were rejected by her office in her custody?<\/p>\n<p>In other words, what happened to the 10,423 voter registration forms that\u2063 did not result\u2063 in a person\u200b being added\u2063 to the city&#8217;s voter roll?<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Meisch \u2062replied in an Aug. 13 email, \u201cI cannot\u200d speak to \u2064the facts of the case at \u2063this time. I am sorry that I cannot be of more help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the 2020 State Police report cited above, Ms. Meisch told authorities that some of the irregularities found on the voter registration forms submitted by Ms. Hawkins \u200bincluded invalid and non-existent \u200baddresses, erroneous\u200c phone numbers, signatures that did not match those on\u2063 existing records, and numerous forms that appeared to be filled out and signed by the same penman.<\/p>\n<p>Sixteen GOP 2020 electors lawfully nominated by the Michigan Republican Party to cast electoral college votes for President Trump if he carried the state were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/ag\/news\/press-releases\/2023\/07\/18\/michigan-attorney-general-dana-nessel-charges-16-false-electors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indicted<\/a> in July by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat, on fraud charges for\u2062 allegedly knowingly and willfully advancing the \u201cfalse claim\u201d that there was large-scale \u200bvoter fraud in the\u200d state during the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. O&#8217;Halloran told \u200bThe Epoch Times that \u2064he \u2062hopes the\u2063 exposure of the Muskegon case will help exonerate the Republican\u200c electors. He called it a &#8220;cruel irony&#8221; \u200bthat Ms. Nessel, who he \u200csays appears\u2063 to \u2064have helped bury\u200c &#8220;a state investigation into what appears to \u200cbe actual forgery of\u200b election documents, is now prosecuting the innocent Michigan 16 for\u2064 a\u200d contrived &#8216;forgery&#8217; in a case that hinges\u2063 on the AG&#8217;s contention that \u200dthere was &#8216;no evidence of fraud.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Attorneys for \u2063some of the 16 Trump electors argue that \u200btheir particular clients merely positioned themselves\u200b as place-holders ready to legally step in if ongoing investigations into voter fraud determined that President Trump and not Joe Biden won\u2063 the state of\u200b Michigan in 2020.<\/p>\n<h2>Sea Change<\/h2>\n<p>Mr.\u2062 O&#8217;Halloran, the chairman of the state party&#8217;s election\u2062 integrity committee, told The Epoch Times \u200bin an Aug. 21, 2023,\u2064 interview that he and Ms. Skibo were motivated in their efforts by state GOP chairperson \u2062Kristina Karamo, who encouraged them to &#8220;research\u200b the facts, make sure they <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two weeks prior to the 2020 election, over 10,000 voter registration forms were delivered to the Muskegon city clerk in Michigan.
