After his Ford Mustang violently \u200dbarrel-rolled about a dozen times, Preece was discharged from a Florida hospital early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart-Haas Racing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StewartHaasRcng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that Preece was returning to North Carolina after overnight observation at \u2063the Halifax\u2063 Health Medical\u200d Center. Despite the harrowing incident, Preece remained &#8220;awake, alert and mobile&#8221; and was even able to communicate\u200b with his loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old \u2062professional racecar driver was on Lap 156 of \u200cthe 160-lap race when \u2062his No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford took flight. Just super unfortunate to see that happen to anybody, let alone a\u2062 teammate. Hopefully, he&#8217;s OK. Just thinking about him and praying for him,&#8221; Briscoe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racingamerica.com\/news\/nascar\/ryan-preece-transported-to-local-hospital-following-vicious-flip\">told<\/a> \u2062 Racing America.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that Briscoe himself experienced a similar crash\u2064 during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 in 2022. He understands the dangers of these high-speed\u2062 races and believes that changes need to be made to prevent such \u200dincidents in the future.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t wreck \u2063cars like that every time we come to a superspeedway,&#8221; Briscoe emphasized. &#8220;These cars, with how the\u200c bottom \u2064is, as\u2064 soon as they get any air, it just flips them right over. Whenever you&#8217;re running 190 mph, and you go airborne, it&#8217;s not \u200cgood. Especially when there&#8217;s grass and stuff involved.\u200d We definitely need \u2062to do something. I don&#8217;t know what \u2063it is that we can do, but we \u200bneed to do something.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the crash, Preece&#8217;s spirits \u200cremained high. Saturday night&#8217;s \u200drace was\u200b his last chance to qualify for \u200dthe 2023 playoffs, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/nascar-cup\/news\/violent-airborne-wreck-ryan-preece-hospital-daytona\/10512111\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Motorsport.com<\/a>. While Preece was being treated, the race continued into overtime, and Chris Buescher emerged as the victor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ryan is a good friend of mine,&#8221; Buescher shared with NBC. &#8220;While we were \u2064in Victory \u2063Lane, we got word that \u2063he&#8217;s at the hospital, that they&#8217;re running through a lot of stuff and that \u200che&#8217;s doing \u2062well.
