While the predicted track of the storm could change over \u200ctime, the center of\u200d the system appears to be on a course\u200b to make landfall sometime mid-week between Panama City and Tampa.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis announced\u200d last week \u2062that he directed his state\u2019s\u200c emergency management team to \u200dprepare for the tropical system. \u201cResidents should remain vigilant \u2064and\u2063 prepare \u200bfor possible impacts early next week,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1694840295790166374\">said \u200bin a post to X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Though Idalia appears to be making a bee-line for Florida, impacts from the \u200cstorm could also reach neighboring states such as Alabama \u2063and, later, Georgia \u200cand\u2064 the Carolinas. In the meantime, it is poised to travel between Mexico and Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>On\u2062 Saturday, \u2064DeSantis signed an executive\u2063 order \u200ddeclaring a \u200cstate \u200bof emergency covering 33 counties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI signed an \u200bExecutive\u2063 Order issuing a state of emergency out of an abundance of\u2063 caution to\u2062 ensure that the Florida Division of Emergency Management can begin staging resources and Floridians have plenty of time to prepare their families \u2062for a storm\u200b next\u2062 week,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flgov.com\/2023\/08\/26\/governor-ron-desantis-issues-executive-order-in-preparation-for-invest-93l\/\">DeSantis said<\/a>. \u201cI encourage Floridians to have a plan\u2064 in place and ensure that their hurricane supply kit is stocked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another tropical system in the Atlantic Ocean being tracked\u200c by the National Hurricane Center is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/text\/refresh\/MIATCPAT3+shtml\/271442.shtml?\">Hurricane Franklin<\/a>.
