However, opponents\u2063 view it as an unethical form of human experimentation.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama authorized nitrogen hypoxia in 2018 due to\u200d a\u2064 shortage of drugs \u200bused in lethal injections. However, the state\u200d has not attempted to carry out an execution using this method until now. Oklahoma\u200c and Mississippi have also authorized nitrogen hypoxia but have not implemented it.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Alabama may \u2064not be required to prove the humanity\u200d of pure nitrogen-based executions. According \u2063to Richmond University \u200claw professor Corinna Barrett Lain, the burden falls on the condemned inmate \u2062to demonstrate that the method is torturous.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama has been working on developing the nitrogen hypoxia execution\u200c method for several years, but\u200b details about the \u200cprocess \u2063remain undisclosed.
