Ron DeSantis has \u200cdeclared\u2062 a state of emergency in 33 counties in preparation for the potential impact of a weather system\u200b that the National\u200b Hurricane Center (NHC) warns is becoming better \u200corganized\u2064 and could \u200dbecome a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tropical-storm-claudette-floods-parts-of-gulf-coast\/\" title=\"Tropical storm Claudette floods parts of Gulf Coast\">tropical storm<\/a> with\u200d dangerous consequences.<\/p>\n<p>The weather system\u2014an area of low\u2062 pressure \u2064dubbed Invest 93L\u2014that is located in the \u200cnorthwestern Caribbean Sea and eastern Gulf of Mexico near Mexico&#8217;s Yucatan Peninsula continued to become \u200cbetter organized on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The\u2064 disturbance near\u200d the Yucatan is\u2064 becoming better organized. Issuing this order today \u200censures communities have time\u200c to \u200bprepare for the storm system which could\u2064 have impacts along\u200d the Gulf Coast \u2063next week,&#8221;\u200b Mr. DeSantis said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1695490796718354517?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post\u2064 on \u200bX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There&#8217;s currently \u200da 90 \u200cpercent chance \u2063that the weather disturbance becomes\u200c a cyclone within the\u200c next 48 hours, \u2064per NHC.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Mr. DeSantis \u2063directed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to get ready for Invest 93L \u2063to strengthen into a tropical storm.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&#8220;I\u2019ve directed\u2063 <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">@KevinGuthrieFL <\/span>&#038; the FL\u2063 Emergency Management team to prepare\u200d for a potential tropical\u2064 system currently moving across the Yucat\u00e1n Peninsula,&#8221; Mr. DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1694840295790166374?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResidents should remain vigilant and\u2062 prepare for\u2063 possible impacts early next week,\u201d\u200d he added.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mb-4\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While the NHC expects Invest 93L to develop\u2062 slowly over the weekend, early\u200b models\u200b suggest it could make \u2064landfall in Florida at some point between Tuesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The storm\u200b activity continues to gradually become better organized. \u2062If this trend continues, advisories\u200b will be initiated on this \u2064system later today,&#8221; NHC said \u200cin an \u2064Atlantic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/text\/refresh\/MIATWOAT+shtml\/261745_MIATWOAT.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tropical \u2064weather outlook<\/a> on the morning of Aug. 26.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The system is expected to move very slowly \u200dnorthward into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico during\u2063 the \u200cnext couple of\u2064 days,&#8221; NHC said in the outlook. &#8220;The chance of development\u200d is high over the next 48 hours.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rick Knabb, a hurricane expert at the Weather \u2064Channel, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrRickKnabb\/status\/1695473495562449101?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post on X<\/a> that Invest 93L has \u200bthe potential to strengthen into a\u2063 number of dangerous\u2062 weather systems.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&#8220;Especially this time of year, just about \u2062anything\u200c is possible intensity wise for a system forming \u2062near Yucat\u00e1n and heading north into Gulf. Be ready to react quickly this weekend into early next week as <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#93L<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">  intensifies,&#8221; Mr. Knabb said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&#8220;Even a tropical storm can generate significant storm surge,&#8221; he\u2063 added.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Tropical Storm Franklin\u200d Becomes Hurricane<\/h2>\n<p>Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Franklin \u200chas strengthened \u2062into a hurricane and could \u2062threaten the U.S. \u2062East Coast next \u2064week, per NHC.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane Franklin was located around\u200b 620 miles south of Bermuda, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-england-areas-under-flood-watches-as-tropical-storm-elsa-continues-moving-northeast\/\" title=\"New England areas under flood watches as Tropical Storm Elsa continues moving northeast\">maximum sustained winds<\/a> of 75 mph, \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/text\/refresh\/MIATCPAT3+shtml\/261446.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according\u200c to<\/a> \u2062an advisory issued by NHC at 11 a.m. ET on Aug. 26.<\/p>\n<p>Franklin was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hilary-weakens-into-storm-still-barreling-towards-ca-with-heavy-rain-and-flooding-in-some-parts\/\" title=\"Hilary weakens but heads to CA with heavy rain and flooding in some areas.\">moving north-northwest<\/a> at \u2063around 7 mph, with\u2063 the \u200bhurricane expected to drift across the western Atlantic through early next week, while\u2063 gathering strength.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Steady strengthening is \u2064forecast, and\u2062 Franklin could\u2063 become a major hurricane early next week,&#8221; NHC forecasters \u200bwrote in the \u2062latest 11\u200d a.m. advisory.<\/p>\n<p>Swells generated by the hurricane \u200bare expected to \u2063begin \u200cimpacting Bermuda on Sunday night before threatening parts of the U.S. eastern\u2062 seaboard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These swells are\u2063 also likely to cause life-threatening surf and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-declares-emergency-in-33-florida-counties-as-storm-system-gathers-steam\/\" title=\"DeSantis declares emergency in 33 FL counties as storm approaches.\">rip current conditions late<\/a>\u200b this weekend into early next \u200dweek along portions of the east\u200d coast \u200dof the United States.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
