The district \u2062spent thousands of dollars to create an &#8220;equity\u200d dashboard&#8221; that categorized students by race, according \u2063to documents\u2062 obtained\u200c by the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2020, the Pennsbury School District in Pennsylvania entered into a $95,000 contract with Qualtrics, \u200da <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-pick-for-ftc-commissioner-called-ice-out-of-control-domestic-surveillance\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Pick For FTC Commissioner Called ICE \u2018Out-Of-Control Domestic Surveillance\u2019\">data analytics company<\/a>, to acquire software that would enable the creation of an &#8220;equity dashboard.&#8221; This dashboard would track students&#8217; achievements and outcomes based on their race, as \u200drevealed in the obtained \u200cdocuments. The\u200c district has been prioritizing DEI initiatives for several\u200b years, aiming to establish an education system rooted in equity.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its commitment \u2062to DEI, the district appointed its first director of &#8220;Equity, Diversity, and Education&#8221;\u2063 in\u2064 July 2020. The Equity Office \u200dwas tasked with conducting a comprehensive equity audit to\u200d address any gaps in the education system, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>However, the district&#8217;s \u200dDEI strategy faced criticism from parents in 2021. They argued that the plan\u2062 was introducing\u200b Critical Race \u2062Theory into the \u2062classroom, \u2062as reported by the Bucks\u2064 County Courier Times.<\/p>\n<p>Prior\u200d to appointing its director of &#8220;Equity, Diversity, and Education,&#8221; the \u2063Pennsbury School District purchased the Qualtrics \u200bsoftware, which provided them with the controversial &#8220;equity dashboard,&#8221; as shown in the documents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Examining the &#8220;Discipline Gap&#8221; and \u200b&#8221;Opportunity Gap&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>The equity dashboard highlighted two \u200bsignificant gaps in\u200d the district&#8217;s\u200d education system. The first, known as the &#8220;discipline gap,&#8221; refers to patterns of differences in behavioral outcomes\u200c and disciplinary responses across different demographic groups. From \u20622016 to \u200d2020, approximately 60% of K-12 students suspended each year were white, while less than 20%, with a\u2062 few exceptions, were black\u200b students.<\/p>\n<p>The second gap, referred to\u200d as the &#8220;opportunity gap,&#8221; relates to differences in access to educational programs, resources, and support among demographic groups. From 2015 to 2021, nearly 80% of students in\u2062 advanced classes were white, while less than 10% were black or Hispanic.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to Jennifer Neill, supervisor of public relations for Pennsbury School District, the district initially contracted with Qualtrics to gather parent feedback during the pandemic. However, they soon explored the software&#8217;s\u2064 potential as a data management \u200dtool, leading to the development of the equity dashboard. Neill mentioned\u2064 that the district \u200dfound the product challenging to work \u200dwith, and eventually \u2064switched to the Survey Money survey platform, resulting in significant cost savings.<\/p>\n<p>While it remains unclear how the district utilized the equity dashboard, it is evident that Pennsbury School District continued to promote DEI initiatives following the software&#8217;s purchase. In April 2021, \u2064the district released an &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-school-district-ran-equity-dashboard-tracking-students-by-race\/\" title=\"US School District Monitored Students' Progress by Race with 'Equity Dashboard'\">educational equity audit report<\/a>&#8221; outlining its vision \u200bto make equity the foundation of\u2063 all decision-making.
