These droplets can originate from showers, faucets, whirlpools, \u200dor even the water systems of large buildings.<\/p>\n<p>The SNHD confirmed that environmental samples collected from both\u200c hotels \u200chave tested positive for Legionella. Both establishments have cooperated with the SNHD&#8217;s investigation and have taken steps to remediate \u200dtheir water systems.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The most recent environmental testing did not detect Legionella bacteria.\u200c We\u200c are\u2064 currently in\u200b the process of notifying guests about the potential exposure and providing them with guidance on minimizing the risk,&#8221; stated the health district.<\/p>\n<p>Guests who stayed at the hotels between August 1st\u2063 and experienced symptoms within 14 days after their stay are urged to report their illness to the \u200bHealth District and seek medical\u2063 attention. Symptoms of Legionnaires&#8217; disease typically appear within two to 10 days after exposure and may include cough, shortness \u2063of breath, fever, muscle aches, and headaches.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note \u2063that Legionnaires&#8217; disease can lead to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nycs-top-doc-apologizes-for-describing-mothers-as-birthing-people\/\" title=\"NYC\u2019s Top Doc Apologizes for Describing Mothers as \u201cBirthing People\u201d\">life-threatening complications<\/a> such as respiratory failure, septic shock, \u2064and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/woman-develops-rare-acute-kidney-failure-after-first-dose-of-pfizer-vaccine-case-study-shows\/\" title=\"Woman Develops Rare Acute Kidney Failure After First Dose of Pfizer Vaccine, Case Study Shows\">acute kidney failure<\/a>. If left untreated, the disease can \u200cbe fatal, as stated \u2064by Mayo Clinic.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals over 50 years old,\u2062 smokers, people with chronic lung disease or other serious medical conditions, and those with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cdc-advisers-to-discuss-covid-booster-shots-for-those-with-weakened-immune-systems\/\" title=\"CDC advisers to discuss COVID booster shots for those with weakened immune systems\">weakened immune systems<\/a> \u2063are at\u2062 a\u2062 higher risk of developing severe symptoms after contracting \u200dthe disease.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Legionnaires&#8217; disease can pose a significant risk in hospitals and nursing homes, where the spread of germs is more likely and individuals are more\u200d vulnerable to\u200d infection,&#8221; the SNHD emphasized.<\/p>\n<h3>Illegal Immigrants Evacuated After Legionella Detected<\/h3>\n<p>In a separate \u2063incident earlier this month, a group of illegal immigrants were evacuated from\u2064 the\u200c Bibby Stockholm barge at\u2064 the port of Portland on the south coast after Legionella bacteria was discovered in the water supply.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Tug boat Mercia pulls the Bibby Stockholm accommodation barge into Portland in Dorset, on July 18, 2023. Fortunately, none of the individuals on board had fallen ill or developed Legionnaires&#8217; disease, \u200cand \u2062they are being provided \u2063with\u2063 appropriate advice and support.<\/p>\n<p>The Home Office stated that further investigation\u2063 is required due to the detection of Legionella bacteria\u2062 in the water system of the Bibby Stockholm.
