However, \u2062he was\u200d later convicted in a second trial for Harris&#8217; death and found guilty of another killing in the case of Mary Sue Brooks, 87.<\/p>\n<p>Despite \u2062the convictions, Mr. Chemirmir has consistently maintained his innocence.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities believe that\u2062 Mr. Chemirmir targeted older women, murdering \u2064them and stealing their valuables.<\/p>\n<p>The breakthrough in the investigation came when\u200b a 91-year-old\u2063 woman survived an attack and bravely reported that Mr. Chemirmir had forced his way into\u2062 her apartment at a senior living\u2062 community. He allegedly\u200d attempted to smother her with a pillow and took her jewelry.<\/p>\n<p>Police apprehended Mr. Chemirmir the following day \u200din the\u2064 parking lot of his apartment complex.
