My father had it; \u2064I had it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 1975, the Montreal Expos signed\u200d Hill. Over four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/i-never-abandoned-hope-trust-in-god-says-miraculous-baseball-player-who-inspired-faith-based-film-the-hill\/\" title=\"Miraculous baseball player behind 'The Hill' film never lost hope, trusted in God.\">minor league seasons<\/a>, he hit .298 with 26 homers \u2063and\u200b 116 RBI \u200cand \u2064was\u2062 part\u200b of the \u200b1978 Grays Harbor Loggers team that won the \u200cNorthwest League championship, according\u2062 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/mlb\/columnist\/bob-nightengale\/2023\/08\/20\/baseball-movies-get-inspirational-boost-from-i-can-the-hill\/70635811007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe could hit, and \u200dhe had\u200d power,\u201d Hall of Famer Andre Dawson, \u200bwho \u200cplayed\u2063 with \u2062Hill \u200bon \u200bthe \u2064Class A Lethbridge Expos, said. \u2064\u201cHe was definitely one of our \u2063top prospects.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Hill \u200ctold Faithwire \u2063that he was a\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/legendary-musician-tells-huge-crowd-truth-god-made-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">different breed<\/a> of athlete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was probably the\u2062 only baseball\u2063 player ever that never said a \u200dcurse word,\u201d he \u200dsaid. \u201cI would get on the buses and I\u2019d start\u200d preaching to the guys on the bus, \u200cthe guys that would listen, \u2064and singing Gospel songs, leading\u200d Gospel songs while we were on the \u200droad\u200b traveling. That carried on through my baseball career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never gave up hope and faith,\u201d Hill \u200dadded.<\/p>\n<p>Even after an incident\u200c in which \u2062he became\u2063 paralyzed on the\u2063 field, Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/god-grateful-country-star-coffey-anderson-credits-holy-spirit-helping-navigate-major-hardships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">never gave up<\/a> on God.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u200b one I didn\u2019t \u200cunderstand,\u201d he \u200csaid. \u200b\u201cBut I never gave up hope and \u2062faith and I went through\u200c major \u200bsurgeries that restored my legs.\u2064 \u2026\u200b I\u2019ve got nine screws in\u2062 my spine, I\u2062 have six cages, \u2063and a 14-inch rod that holds me together.
