Labor unions\u200d argue that the \u2063requirement goes beyond\u2063 what\u200d Janus mandates and\u2062 is\u200d part of a \u200cbroader anti-union agenda by Republican state officials.<\/p>\n<p>Alaska Governor Mike\u200d Dunleavy, a Republican,\u2062 emphasizes \u200bthat the government is committed to\u200b protecting the \u2062rights of its employees. He states, &#8220;Before\u2062 we\u200d take any money from the \u2063paychecks of state\u200c employees, we need to ensure that the employees were properly \u2062advised\u200d of their\u2062 rights \u200cand consented to\u200c the deduction. And if employees disagree \u200bwith union speech, \u200bthey need\u200d to be\u200d given an opportunity to opt \u200dout.\u2064 Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ucla-student-government-passes-stipend-to-compensate-undocumented-students\/\" title=\"UCLA Student Government Passes Stipend To Compensate Undocumented Students\">payroll system<\/a> does not adequately protect the constitutional rights of our employees and \u2064changes must be made.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alaska Attorney General \u200cTreg Taylor, also a Republican,\u2064 echoes this sentiment, stating that\u200c the\u2064 promise of Janus remains \u200cunfulfilled. He asserts that \u200cstates across the country, including Alaska,\u2064 continue \u2063to deduct money from employees&#8217; paychecks \u2062without clear evidence of knowing consent. Taylor emphasizes\u200b the need for the highest court in \u200dthe country to intervene.<\/p>\n<p>The petition argues that Janus clearly instructs states not to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/government-unions-have-been-stealing-money-for-years-now-scotus-has-the-chance-to-intervene\/\" title=\"Government Unions Have Been Stealing Money For Years \u2014 Now, SCOTUS Has The Chance To Intervene\">force public employees<\/a> to subsidize union speech and requires &#8220;clear and \u2063compelling evidence&#8221; of employees waiving their First Amendment rights before deducting any payments. However, many states \u2062are disregarding these instructions and deducting dues \u200dwithout proper evidence of consent.<\/p>\n<p>Alaska, on the other hand, respects Janus and acknowledges that its previous dues-deduction system did not adequately \u2064protect the First Amendment rights of state employees.\u200c The state \u2064proposed a new form\u2064 that would remind employees of their \u200brights and allow them to opt out of the deduction process. However, the Alaska \u200dSupreme Court upheld a \u2062permanent injunction against the state, forcing it to continue deducting dues using the old procedure.<\/p>\n<p>The court&#8217;s ruling also\u2064 accused the state of displaying an &#8220;anti-union animus&#8221; through its changes to \u200dthe labor \u200crelations framework.
