Version: 4.0.47--><h2>A New Task Force Takes Action Against Organized Smash-and-Grab Robberies \u2062in Los Angeles<\/h2>\n<p>A new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles<\/a> \u2062task force launched this \u200bweek has \u2063arrested 11 people in connection with recent organized smash-and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/police-release-california-smash-and-grab-suspect-to-hospital-as-city-scrambles-to-combat-theft\/\" title=\"Police release California smash and grab suspect to hospital as city fights theft.\">-grab robberies involving large groups<\/a> of thieves, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The nearly one dozen suspects arrested \u200bby the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force include \u2063at least one \u2063who was \u200callegedly involved\u2062 in recent smash-and-grab robberies at a Nordstrom and an Yves Saint Laurent store.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-how-a-pizza-box-and-hair-led-police-to-the-suspected-gilgo-beach-serial-killer\/\" title=\"Pizza box and hair help police find suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer.\">task \u200bforce<\/a>, which \u200bwas announced\u2063 Thursday by Mayor Karen \u2062Bass, the LAPD, and several other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oregon-governor-encourages-people-to-call-police-on-neighbors-violating-covid-orders\/\" title=\"Oregon Governor Encourages People To Call Police On Neighbors Violating COVID Orders\">law enforcement agencies<\/a>, follows a chaotic week that saw two smash-and-grab robberies by \u200blarge groups in the Los Angeles area.<\/p>\n<p>Over the\u200d weekend, a mob of nearly 50 people \u2062in hoodies and\u2062 masks stole\u200b up to $100,000 in luxury\u2063 merchandise from\u2062 a Nordstrom in Los Angeles. \u200bThe\u200c thieves \u200calso attacked security guards with bear mace.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, another group of 30 to 40 thieves robbed an Yves Saint Laurent store in southern California in broad \u200cdaylight, absconding with an estimated $300,000 worth of merchandise, \u200cpolice\u2062 said.\u2062 The brazen\u2063 smash-and-grab\u2063 robbery was caught on video just before 5 p.m. The store is located at the Americana at Brand mall\u2064 in Glendale, just north of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Footage<\/h3>\n<p>from the Yves Saint Laurent\u2062 incident\u2062 shows over a \u200ddozen people \u200bmostly dressed in dark \u200bclothes, hoods,\u2064 and masks dashing into the store and running out again,\u2064 their arms full of the expensive merchandise.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Police said Thursday that they had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/los-angeles-moves-crack-down-retail-theft-epidemic-task-force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> the\u2063 first \u2062suspect in the Yves Saint Laurent\u200c robbery. A 23-year-old man was charged with organized \u200cretail theft, burglary, grand theft, and conspiracy.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives on the new task force were \u200cinvestigating nine cases involving organized retail crimes.\u2064 The 11 arrests were related to\u2062 four of\u2063 those cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Those four cases involve crimes at the Nordstrom store, the Yves Saint Laurent store in Glendale, a Versace store in Los Angeles, and a Warehouse Shoe\u2062 Store\u200b in \u200cHighland Park, the LAPD said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany \u2063of these retail theft\u200d cases \u2063have adopted linkage to other retail crimes which occurred in neighboring\u2064 cities,\u201d\u2062 the LAPD <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lapdonline.org\/newsroom\/organized-retail-crime-taskforce-arrests-nr23259ne\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> \u2064 Thursday in \u200ba statement.<\/p>\n<p>The investigations by the task force remain ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019ve \u200cseen over\u200c just the past week in\u200d the City of Los Angeles and in surrounding regions is unacceptable,\u200d which \u200bis why \u2064today we are here announcing action,\u201d\u200b Mayor Karen \u200cBass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/los-angeles-launches-task-force-to-combat-smash-and-grab-robberies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> when she announced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/los-angeles-crime-task-force-arrests-11-linked-to-smash-and-grab-robberies\/\" title=\"11 individuals connected to smash and grab robberies apprehended by Los Angeles Crime Task Force.\">task \u2064force alongside law enforcement agencies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are not victimless \u2062crimes \u2013 especially in\u200c the case where Angelenos were attacked \u2013 through force\u200d or fear \u2013 as they did their jobs or \u200bran errands,\u201d\u200b she said, adding that\u200b the task force will \u201caggressively investigate\u201d these incidents and hold the perpetrators \u201cfully accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles \u200bhas been plagued by rampant retail and personal theft in \u2064recent months.<\/p>\n<p>Most types of violent crime are down in Los Angeles\u2062 except theft,\u2062 which is up 15% \u200dto more than 20,409 thefts compared to this time last\u2063 year, <a href=\"https:\/\/lapdonlinestrgeacc.blob.core.usgovcloudapi.net\/lapdonlinemedia\/cityprof.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to police data.<\/p>\n<p>Since the fall\u200b of 2021, Los Angeles County has\u2064 seen\u200b at least 170 organized retail \u200bthefts, including the \u200bsmash-and-grab trend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/los-angeles-moves-crack-down-retail-theft-epidemic-task-force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to\u200c the Los Angeles County\u200d Sheriff\u2019s\u200b Office.<\/p>\n<p>Late last\u2062 month, police \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/california-jewelry-store-smash-grab-robbers-snatched-900000-merchandise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> another group of masked thieves stole $900,000 worth of merchandise from a jewelry store in Irvine just \u200csouth of Los Angeles and Glendale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Los Angeles task force, formed recently, has apprehended 11 individuals linked to organized smash-and-grab robberies.
