Jordan and two other House Republican chairmen\u2064 have pursued a \u200csimilar probe of Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, who\u200b brought criminal charges against\u2064 Trump involving hush money paid to\u2064 a porn star ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Bragg\u200b then sued Jordan to stop what the district attorney \u2063called a &#8220;campaign of intimidation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump has faced criminal charges in four cases this year, two brought by\u2064 Smith. Trump, the first former U.S. president ever to face charges, is the front-runner \u200cin \u2064the race for the Republican nomination\u200b to face\u2063 President\u2062 Joe \u2064Biden, a Democrat,\u200d in the 2024 U.S. election.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan gave Willis until 10 a.m. \u200cEDT on Sept. 7 to turn over documents and communications involving any use \u200cof federal funds by her office and\u2064 any \u200dcontacts \u2063in the Trump case with officials at the \u2062Justice Department or elsewhere in \u200dthe Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>The House investigation was disclosed three days after Trump accused Willis on his social media \u2064platform of &#8220;continuing to campaign, and raise money on, this \u2063WITCH HUNT. This is\u200c in strict coordination with Crooked Joe Biden&#8217;s DOJ. It is all about ELECTION \u200dINTERFERENCE!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The House Judiciary Committee released Jordan&#8217;s letter as Trump prepared on Thursday to be fingerprinted and photographed at an Atlanta jail on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/politically-motivated-house-republicans-launch-probe-of-trump-prosecutor-in-georgia\/\" title=\"House Republicans launch investigation into Georgia prosecutor, alleging political bias.\">13 felony counts including racketeering<\/a>, which is typically used to target organized crime.<\/p>\n<p>In the case brought by \u2063Willis, Trump was accused of unlawfully pressuring Georgia state officials \u2062to reverse his 2020 election loss to Biden \u200cin the state.<\/p>\n<p>House Republicans have sought to defend Trump in the four cases \u200dby alleging that the U.S. justice system has\u2063 been &#8220;weaponized&#8221; against him by Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, 77, faces 91 separate criminal counts overall in the court cases.
