According to the poll,\u2063 more \u2063Republican voters who watched the debate\u2062 are now considering\u200b voting\u2062 for Florida Governor Ron \u2062DeSantis to be the party&#8217;s nominee than any other candidate, including former \u200cPresident Donald Trump. Additionally, the poll highlighted former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley as the candidate who gained the most ground.<\/p>\n<p>The new\u2063 data from a <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/republican-debate-august-poll\/\">FiveThirtyEight\/Washington Post\/Ipsos<\/a> poll showed that DeSantis garnered 29% of the vote, with Vivek Ramaswamy receiving 26% and Haley\u200c receiving\u200d 15%. Among GOP primary voters who expressed their willingness to consider each candidate, former President Donald\u200b Trump, who \u2062chose\u2063 not to debate, initially held the top spot \u200dwith 66.2% considering \u2064voting for him. However, \u2062after his absence from the debate, that number dropped to 61.4%. On the \u2062other hand,\u2064 DeSantis entered the \u2064night at \u2062the #2 \u2062spot with 63% considering voting for him, and after \u200bhis performance, he moved to #1 with 67.5%. Haley experienced the most significant surge, going from just 30% to 47%.<\/p>\n<p>Another poll, commissioned by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/08\/24\/ramaswamy-tops-desantis-as-best-performer-in-first-republican-debate-poll\/\">New York\u200d Post<\/a>, sought to determine which candidate viewers believed won the debate. This\u2063 poll, conducted by a\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/leger360.com\/about\/\">Canadian-owned\u2064 market research and analytics\u2063 company<\/a>, found that 23% of voters \u2062chose Ramaswamy as the winner, 21% favored DeSantis, and 11% selected former Vice President Mike Pence.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post poll \u200calso assessed the candidates&#8217; favorable and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/47-of-voters-dont-want-to-see-biden-run-in-2024-58-oppose-trump-run-poll\/\" title=\"47% Of Voters Don\u2019t Want To See Biden Run In 2024, 58% Oppose Trump Run: Poll\">unfavorable ratings<\/a>. DeSantis emerged\u2063 with the highest overall favorable \u200crating at 72.4% and the highest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-sees-lower-net-favorability-rating-than-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Sees Lower Net Favorability Rating than Donald Trump\">net favorable rating<\/a> at 47%. Haley witnessed a significant boost in her net favorable rating, rising by 13 percentage points from 26% to 39%. Conversely, Ramaswamy experienced a decline of 9\u2062 percentage\u2062 points, going from 37% to 28%. Trump&#8217;s net favorability dipped\u2062 from\u200c 31% to \u200d24%. <\/p>\n<p>Among the candidates, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) had\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-lagging-desantis-in-swing-states-post-indictment-according-to-polls\/\" title=\"Polls show DeSantis leading Trump in swing states after indictment.\">lowest unfavorable rating<\/a> at 23.2%, while DeSantis had the second-lowest \u200dunfavorable rating at 26.8%.
