Friends of the Earth had previously been part of an \u200cagreement with operator\u2063 Pacific Gas and Electric to close the plant \u200bby 2025.<\/p>\n<h3>Key Points from the Republican Debate in Milwaukee<\/h3>\n<p>However, last year, Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom\u2063 and \u2063the state legislature provided a way for PG&#038;E to extend their operations for\u200c a\u2063 longer period. \u2062Friends of the Earth\u200c argued that the \u200b2016\u2062 agreement to \u2062close the reactors was not fully extinguished and that extending the operating licenses would\u2064 violate a \u2064binding contract.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200dan 18-page ruling, Judge Ethan P. Schulman \u200brejected the complaint, siding with PG&#038;E&#8217;s argument that \u200dFriends of the Earth was\u2064 attempting to interfere with state regulatory oversight of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-just-gas-stoves-biden-admin-rule-would-outlaw-nearly-all-portable-gas-generators\/\" title=\"Biden Admin's Rule Bans Most Portable Gas Generators\">power \u2062plant<\/a>.
