Boardman\u2063 said\u200d that parents\u2019 \u201casserted due \u2064process \u200dright to \u200bdirect their children\u2019s upbringing by \u2064opting\u200c out of\u200d a public-school curriculum that \u200bconflicts with their religious views \u200dis \u200bnot a fundamental\u2062 right,\u201d Fox News \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/maryland-court-parents-cant-opt-kids-lgbtq-curriculum-fundamental-right\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Outrage Over LGBTQ \u200cCurriculum<\/h3>\n<p>Last\u200c year, Montgomery County \u200dPublic \u2062Schools (MCPS) introduced 22 new books into elementary-aged\u200d classrooms that featured LGBTQ characters and\u200c radical gender theory topics \u2063and then stopped\u200c parents \u2062from opting their children out of gender and sexuality instruction in March. \u200dThe\u2062 move sparked outrage \u2063from many\u2063 religious\u2063 parents\u200c who, along with Becket Law, filed a lawsuit challenging the district\u2019s decision in May. Concerned \u200bparents\u2062 requested a preliminary injunction that would allow\u2062 them to opt their children out of the LGBTQ curriculum\u200b when school begins\u200c next\u2063 week.<\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s LGBTQ curriculum \u200cis intended to be taught to pre-k \u2062through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/san-francisco-parents-call-for-algebra-1-to-be-returned-to-8th-grade-curriculum\/\" title=\"SF Parents Demand Return of Algebra 1 to 8th-Grade Curriculum\">8th-grade students<\/a>\u200d and \u200bincludes references\u2063 to sex change procedures, drag \u2064queens, \u201cintersex\u201d identity, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/progressives-capture-the-rainbow-flag-for-transgender-politics\/\" title=\"Progressives Capture the Rainbow Flag for Transgender Politics\">gay pride parades<\/a>, and preferred \u2062pronouns, according\u2064 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/not-a-fundamental-right-maryland-court-strikes-down-parents-request-to-opt-kids-out-of-lgbt-curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Review<\/a>.
