Nikki Haley Shines in GOP\u2063 Primary\u2063 Debate<\/h2>\n<p>Former United Nations\u200b Ambassador and \u200cSouth Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley&#8217;s\u200c standout performance during \u200dthe\u200d first GOP primary \u2063debate in Milwaukee \u200dgarnered the 2024 candidate praise \u2062for her ability to\u200b handle the other presidential candidates on the\u200d debate stage\u2064 with the conviction and poise needed of\u200c the Republican Party&#8217;s next standard bearer.<\/p>\n<p>Haley&#8217;s clashes with former Vice President Mike Pence and entrepreneur Vivek\u2062 Ramaswamy were notable moments that catapulted her over fellow\u200b South Carolina Republican Sen.\u2062 Tim\u200d Scott&#8217;s \u2062relatively tame night and could be the \u2064beginning\u2064 of \u2062a \u200bsurging \u2063campaign moment.<\/p>\n<h3>Top Three Takeaways from the Republican Debate in Milwaukee<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Nikki&#8217;s \u2062battle-tested like no one else on the stage, \u2063really,&#8221; Dawson\u200c said. &#8220;At\u2063 the\u200c end of the day, this was one where\u2062 some people\u2064 probably\u200d got disqualified. Nikki Haley got promoted. She \u2063did a good job representing\u2062 herself, representing the issues, the grasp of the knowledge that she has\u2063 about it. And she&#8217;s she&#8217;s ready\u2063 for prime \u200dtime. Some of the others are not.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Veteran Republican consultant Frank Luntz\u200b opined \u200cthat &#8220;Nikki\u200c Haley \u200dmay have\u2062 just won the\u200c #GOPDebate with\u200c that foreign\u200b policy exchange&#8221; in regards to Haley&#8217;s blunt comments to Ramaswamy over his stances on the Russia-Ukraine \u2063war.\u200c &#8220;This guy is a murderer, and you are choosing a murderer,&#8221; Haley said about Ramaswamy&#8217;s previous comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin. &#8220;Under \u2063your watch, you will make\u2064 America less safe. \u2062You have no\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/b-team-brawl-trump-rivals-tussle-in-first-republican-debate-taking-aim-at-ramaswamy\/\" title=\"Trump's opponents clash in first GOP debate, targeting Ramaswamy.\">foreign policy \u2064experience<\/a> and\u2062 it shows.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It was a\u2064 notable moment that \u2062won Haley plaudits. &#8220;She\u200d has destroyed Vivek,&#8221; Luntz added.<\/p>\n<p>Haley&#8217;s \u200bdebate \u200bperformance\u200c also\u200b outshined \u200bScott, whom some \u200bpolitical commentators said played too meek. \u200d&#8221;Tim is \u2062too polite,&#8221;\u2062 said Ford O&#8217;Connell, a GOP\u2063 strategist based in Florida. &#8220;And I understand that he&#8217;s right when he says, \u2062&#8217;Well, when\u2064 we go at it, the Democrats\u200c are gonna try to use that \u2062as fodder.&#8217; But \u2062Tim is too\u200b polite. And people \u200cwant \u2064to hear from Tim, and\u200d he has to \u2064find a way next time around to inject \u2064himself into that debate. He&#8217;s \u2064got a\u200c lot to offer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Contrast that with Haley, whom \u2063O&#8217;Connell told the Washington Examiner &#8220;did much \u200bbetter than expected.&#8221; \u2064The Florida strategist added that a key strength of \u2064Haley\u200d came from \u2062her \u2062appeal to\u2063 women voters \u200bwho \u2063have drifted from the Republican Party in recent elections. &#8220;I \u2063think \u200bthat she \u2063was absolutely right to stress the importance of appealing to female voters,&#8221; O&#8217;Connell said \u2063of Haley, the sole woman on the\u2062 debate stage. \u200d&#8221;Which is long \u200bbeen, particularly unmarried female voters, it&#8217;s been a \u2063real issue for the Republican\u200b Party, and she&#8217;s right to hammer home on that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Haley&#8217;s conversation with \u2062Pence during the\u200b debate over abortion offered another illustration of the\u200b former ambassador&#8217;s nuanced stance on a topic of huge concern to women. \u2063&#8221;Let\u2019s treat this like the respectful issue that it is \u2064and humanize the situation and \u2064stop demonizing the\u2062 situation,&#8221; Haley told Pence during their \u200cabortion \u200dclash. She also primarily called for a &#8220;consensus&#8221; on \u2063a federal abortion ban and questioned if the GOP could agree \u2063&#8221;that we are not going to put a \u2063woman in \u2064jail or give her the \u2062death penalty if she gets an abortion?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, Patrick L. Arnold, CEO of the Arnold Group, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/south-carolina-sweepstakes-nikki-haley-rises-tim-scott-falters\/\" title=\"Nikki Haley soars, Tim Scott stumbles in South Carolina sweepstakes.\">political\u2062 consulting firm based<\/a> in South \u2064Carolina, argued \u2063that Haley and Scott&#8217;s debate performances can&#8217;t be\u2064 compared \u200bto one another due to their personality\u2064 differences. &#8220;He came off as honest, as measured like an adult trying to \u2064convince a bunch of professional wrestlers to put\u200d down\u2064 their \u200cmetal chairs. [He] seemed\u200d like \u2064an equalizer on that stage,&#8221; Arnold said of Scott. &#8220;And more importantly, he came off as a storyteller.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was very different than what\u2064 you saw come from Gov. Haley,\u2062 who came out \u2064of the gate\u2064 like\u200c she\u2064 was \u2063pushing a \u200blot of those major players into \u2064their lockers,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;It\u200d was a great show of strength. \u2063I was\u200d not surprised by that. I&#8217;ve known Gov. Haley from her time here\u2064 in South Carolina, and she&#8217;s an incredible fighter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But despite a stellar\u2063 moment in Milwaukee, the former ambassador and South \u2064Carolina governor\u200d will still need\u2063 to face\u200d the hurdle\u200b that\u2063 is the\u2063 current Republican front-runner: former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nikki Haley had a good night. She certainly \u2063presented herself as \u200bthe most electable, \u200bpre-2016 Republican.\u200c And what I mean by that is\u200b she fit the mold of a pre-Trump Republican nominee,&#8221; national Republican strategist Brian Seitchik \u200dtold\u2064 the Washington Examiner. \u200d&#8221;The \u2063question is, is that what the primary\u200c electorate wants\u200c right now?&#8221; \u200bIn \u2064comparison,\u200b Scott &#8220;did not \u2063have a \u200bso-called \u200cbreakout moment,&#8221;\u2063 Seitchik added. \u2062&#8221;I don&#8217;t think he did anything to really capture the hearts and\u2064 minds of\u2063 primary voters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yet O&#8217;Connell claimed that\u200b Haley may not \u200dhave the \u200cstamina to \u2063overtake Trump. &#8220;It would \u200ctake a seismic\u2063 event for Trump not to be the nominee,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Haley\u200c and Scott both \u2062poll in the low single \u2064digits, with Haley at 3.2% slightly leading Scott at\u200c 3.1% in a RealClearPolitics poll average. Trump, the front-runner, \u200dpolls\u2062 at \u200c55.4%, more than 52 percentage points above the\u2064 two candidates.<\/p>\n<p>In their crucial home state of South Carolina, where one of the first \u200bprimaries \u2063will take place, both \u2063Haley and Scott are in double\u200c digits in the RealClearPolitics average. There have \u2062been fewer polls, however.<\/p>\n<p>Trump snubbed the Republican National\u200d Committee and Fox News-sponsored debate on Wednesday, opting instead to release a prerecorded\u200d interview with\u2062 Tucker Carlson in which he attacked several\u200c of his 2024 \u2062rivals, including top rival \u2064Gov. \u200dRon\u200d DeSantis (R-FL). Yet on Thursday, he will \u2063surrender to Georgia authorities in relation to a Peach State indictment over alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election, which could\u200d damper attention from \u200dHaley&#8217;s triumphant debate moments.<\/p>\n<p>The former\u2064 president faces four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-spending-6-1-million-on-database-for-capitol-riot-prosecutions\/\" title=\"DOJ Spending .1 Million On \u2018Database\u2019 For Capitol Riot Prosecutions\">criminal cases stemming<\/a> from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/defiant-trump-says-he-did-nothing-wrong-and-will-never-drop-out-of-2024-race-after-indictment\/\" title=\"Defiant Trump says he 'did nothing wrong' and will 'never' drop out of 2024 race after indictment\">hush money payment scheme<\/a> with \u2063a porn\u200d star, allegations that \u2062Trump mishandled classified documents when he \u200bleft office,\u200b and\u200c two indictments related to\u200b the 2020 election. Trump \u200bhas\u2063 maintained his innocence throughout the \u2062ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>Timothy Head, executive \u2063director of\u200d the Faith and Freedom Coalition, suggested that Trump&#8217;s support \u2063among the \u2064GOP base has increased\u200b as his legal problems impact his ability to run \u2064for \u200dpresident in\u2063 2024. &#8220;The interesting element \u2063to\u2063 his continued indictments is that while it probably\u2062 makes \u2062his opponents hate him even more,\u200b it actually \u2063makes his supporters support him \u200deven more,&#8221; said Head.\u2064 &#8220;It actually also makes I would say, tentative \u2062Trump voters more favorable, and that makes him more sympathetic \u2063to those to those \u2064tentative Trump voters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For those that are open to supporting him, they&#8217;re more enthusiastic \u2064in supporting\u200b him\u2063 now because they perceive him as being attacked, essentially, either by the Biden \u2063administration or by activist prosecutors that are politicizing their\u200b offices,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Poll numbers and fundraising\u200c figures\u200d in the weeks to come will help give \u200ba clearer picture\u200b as to who\u200b will become the definitive Trump-alternative\u200b candidate in the \u2063primary race. Haley, DeSantis, Scott, and the rest \u200cof the field are battling it\u2064 on the campaign trail and debate stage but also face the herculean task of\u2062 not alienating Trump-aligned voters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not enough to just have a good showing in Milwaukee. The campaign has to\u2063 see increased support, both \u200cfinancially and (in) crowd size\u200d in these early swing\u2062 states. And we&#8217;re just not going to know that \u2064right away,&#8221; said Seitchik, the GOP strategist. &#8220;But having said that,\u2063 if\u200d I&#8217;m one of the candidates \u2064and I woke up this morning, certainly Nikki Haley improved her position. And that&#8217;s not true of everyone else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In order to overtake Trump, Arnold, the South\u200d Carolina CEO, suggested candidates will need to stay authentic to their brand and personality style. &#8220;Not trying to mimic Trump or the \u2064next Trump or \u200dany \u2063trope like that,&#8221; Arnold said. &#8220;Because ultimately, you&#8217;re trying to split the vote of somebody who is likely going to keep\u2063 their original base.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For Haley and\u2063 Scott in\u200c particular, &#8220;showing how you&#8217;ve grown to be a presidential candidate&#8221; could help them win during the Palmetto State&#8217;s primary next year, said Arnold.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/nikki-haley-gop-debate-performance\">Click here to read more from the Washington \u200dExaminer<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s gonna be a couple of people \u200con the stage\u200b all \u200cthe \u200bway through South\u2063 Carolina,\u200c and Nikki&#8217;s gonna\u200b be one of those couple\u200c of people,&#8221; he said. \u2062&#8221;And she showed it last night.
