Now there are hundreds of items with milk \u2064in the name but\u2064 with no milk in the product, and it has really hurt\u2063 the entire dairy industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn \u200cthe same way that you can\u2019t milk an almond, you can\u2019t \u2062get\u200d meat from a lab, only an animal, and we are not going to allow them to use\u2062 our name to promote their product.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Synthetic meat-like products are created by taking cells acquired\u2064 from animals and placing them in a \u200bwarm, sterile area, usually a \u2063metal vat, where \u200cthey are then combined with a solution of chemicals that causes the cells to double once a day.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>A piece\u2063 of Good Meat&#8217;s cultivated chicken is displayed at the Eat Just\u200b office \u2063in Alameda, Calif., on \u200bJuly 27, \u20642023. \u200dBack in June, the U.S.\u200b Department of Agriculture (USDA) authorized two California-based companies, Upside Foods\u200c and Good Meat, to sell chicken grown from cells in a lab. (Justin Sullivan\/Getty \u2062Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The demand for synthetic meat has been spurred largely by\u2064 corporate entities and \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/big-tech-worked-closely-with-the-fbi-and-dhs-to-police-disinformation\/\" title=\"Big Tech Worked Closely With The FBI And DHS To Police \u201cDisinformation\u201d\">government agencies working<\/a>\u200d in tandem with the environmental movement.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Gates, an investor in Upside Foods, one of the two synthetic meat producers approved by the\u200c USDA, believes meat alternatives are needed to save the world from upcoming catastrophic climate\u2062 events caused by greenhouse gases.<\/p>\n<p>In\u2062 a 2021 interview with Technology Review, Mr. Gates said \u2062that all well-off \u200cnations need to switch to be completely weaned off\u2064 of living, breathing cows.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All rich countries should move to 100%\u2063 synthetic beef. You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they\u2019re going\u200c to make\u2063 it\u200c taste even better over time,\u201d\u2064 Mr. Gates told the interviewer. \u201cEventually that green premium is modest enough that you can sort\u200b of change the people or use regulation to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-gates-linked-trust-probed-for-buying-up-farmland-in-north-dakota\/\" title=\"Bill Gates-Linked Trust Probed For Buying Up Farmland In North Dakota\">totally shift demand<\/a>. So\u2062 for meat\u2063 in the middle-income-and-above countries,\u2062 I do\u2062 think\u2064 it&#8217;s possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A switch\u200c from animal meat to a laboratory-grown substitute would eliminate the need for animals to be bred\u200c and slaughtered\u2014in the U.S. alone, around 9 billion chickens and 32 million cattle are killed every year.<\/p>\n<p>However, beef cattle production constitutes only a small \u2063fraction of the gases\u200c that many environmentalists claim have had a negative impact on the planet.<\/p>\n<p>Just 2 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions in the United States come from beef cattle production, while energy production and transportation produce a\u2062 combined 54\u2063 percent of emissions, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Ranchers survey their herd of cattle in Quemado, Texas, on June 13, 2023. After two million Italians\u2062 signed \u200ba petition calling for \u200ca\u2062 ban against synthetic meat\u200d products, \u200bthe Italian Senate passed a bill earlier this week, becoming the first country\u200d to make it illegal to produce or \u2064market the food, highlighting health\u200d concerns as the primary reason.<\/p>\n<p>Ettore Prandini,\u2062 President of Coldiretti, the largest association representing Italian agriculture, touted the vote as a legislative victory for the Italian people over corporate powers, telling\u2064 the media that \u201cthe products in the laboratory \u2063in the authorization processes are not equated to food but rather to\u200b products of a pharmaceutical nature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An April 2023 report \u200bby the \u2063United Nations\u200c on the safety of\u200b \u201ccell-based\u200c food products\u201d cited 53 potential health hazards, incl<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>American cattlemen are gearing up to defend the term &#8220;meat&#8221; against synthetic beef producers.
