min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lawsuit alleges that, from at least September 2018 to May \u200d2022, SpaceX \u200broutinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying \u2064and refused to hire or consider them, because \u200bof their citizenship status, in violation of the\u200b Immigration and Nationality Act,\u201d the Justice\u2063 Department said\u200c in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>In job postings and \u200bpublic statements over \u2063several years, SpaceX wrongly \u2064claimed that under federal regulations known as\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-judge-ends-probation-for-chinas-zte-telecom-giant\/\" title=\"U.S. Judge Ends Probation for China\u2019s ZTE Telecom Giant\">export control laws<\/a>, \u2063SpaceX\u200c could hire only U.S. citizens and lawful \u2064permanent residents, sometimes \u2062referred to as \u201cgreen\u200b card holders,\u201d\u200c the Justice Department said.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department also pointed\u2063 to online posts from the company\u2019s billionaire owner Musk as example of \u201cdiscriminatory public statements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit cited \u200ca June 2020 post on X, formerly \u2063called Twitter, by CEO Musk to his then 36 million followers that said: \u201cU.S. law\u200b requires at least\u200c a \u2063green card \u2063to\u2063 be hired at \u2062SpaceX, as rockets are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-doj-sues-musks-spacex-for-not-hiring-asylum-seekers-and-refugees\/\" title=\"Biden's DOJ sues SpaceX over failure to hire asylum seekers and refugees.\">advanced\u2063 weapons technology<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Musk described the Justice Department lawsuit against SpaceX as \u201cweaponization of\u200c the DOJ for political purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a post on \u200dX, the SpaceX CEO said the company \u201cwas told \u2062repeatedly\u200c that hiring anyone who was \u200cnot a permanent resident of the United States would \u200bviolate international\u2063 arms trafficking\u2063 law,\u200b which\u200c would be\u200d a criminal \u2064offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Assistant Attorney\u200d General\u200b Kristen Clarke of \u2062the\u200b Justice Department\u2019s \u2064civil rights division said a DOJ investigation found that SpaceX \u2063\u201cfailed to fairly consider or hire asylees \u2064and refugees because of \u200ctheir citizenship status and imposed what amounted to a ban \u200don their hire regardless of their qualification, in violation of\u2064 federal \u2064law\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Clarke also said \u200cSpaceX recruiters and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-sues-spacex-alleges-hiring-discrimination-against-asylum-recipients-refugees\/\" title=\"US government sues SpaceX, claims hiring bias against asylum seekers, refugees.\">high-level officials \u201cactively discouraged\u201d asylum recipients<\/a> and refugees from\u2062 seeking work opportunities\u2062 at the \u2062company.<\/p>\n<p>The United States seeks fair\u2062 consideration and back pay for asylum recipients and refugees who were \u200cdeterred \u200bor denied employment at \u200dSpaceX due to the alleged discrimination,\u2064 the Justice Department said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200clawsuit also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arizona-attorney-general-sues-school-board-that-allegedly-sought-to-silence-outspoken-parents\/\" title=\"Arizona Attorney General Sues School Board That Allegedly Sought To Silence Outspoken Parents\">seeks civil penalties<\/a> in an amount to be determined by court and \u2062policy changes\u200b to ensure SpaceX complies with the federal non-discrimination mandate going\u200b forward.<\/p>\n<p>  (Reporting by Kanishka Singh in WashingtonAdditional reporting by David Shepardson and Chandni Shah;
