The lawsuit, filed in the \u2064Second Circuit Court\u2062 in Hawaii, accuses the utility company of negligence by failing to turn off their electrical equipment despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-u-s-ambassador-to-mexico-ken-salazar-arrives-in-mexico\/\" title=\"New U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar arrives in Mexico\">severe weather conditions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The suit claims that Hawaiian Electric did not properly maintain and\u2062 repair their electric \u2064transmission lines, utility poles, and other equipment associated with \u200dthe transmission of electricity. Additionally, they failed to \u2063keep vegetation adequately trimmed and\u200d maintained to prevent\u200d contact with \u200coverhead <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/millions-without-power-in-texas-energy-prices-climb\/\" title=\"Millions Without Power In Texas; Energy Prices Climb\">power lines<\/a> and other electric equipment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to attorneys, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maui-county-sues-electric-company-for-negligence-over-lahaina-wildfires\/\" title=\"Maui County sues electric firm for Lahaina wildfire negligence.\">fallen energized power lines ignited \u2064dry fuel<\/a> such as grass and brush, resulting\u2064 in the fires that broke out on Aug. 8. Tragically, these fires claimed the lives of \u2064at least 115\u2063 people and destroyed over 2,200 structures.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit also highlights other utility companies, such as Southern California \u200dEdison Company, Pacific Gas &#038; Electric, and San Diego Gas &#038; Electric, as \u2064examples of \u2063entities with proper shut-off plans that effectively prevented damages and saved lives.
