Hochul Urges President Biden to\u2063 Provide Federal\u2063 Resources for New York&#8217;s Migrant\u200b Crisis<\/h2>\n<p>In a letter addressed to\u200d President Joe Biden, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) passionately appealed for federal assistance\u200d to tackle the pressing migrant crisis in New York City. She emphasized the urgent need\u2063 for funding \u200bin crucial areas such as \u200beducation, transportation, healthcare, and housing assistance, as the\u200d city has seen\u2064 an influx of over 100,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dhs-sec-mayorkas-to-illegals-do-not-come-now-give-us-time-to-rebuild-the-system\/\" title=\"DHS Sec Mayorkas To Illegals: \u2018Do Not Come Now,\u2019 \u2018Give Us Time To Rebuild The System\u2019\">000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">asylum-seekers<\/a><\/a>\u2064 since last spring.<\/p>\n<h3>A \u2064Plea for Federal Aid<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;For over a year, I \u2064have called \u2064for federal assistance and support for New York as we manage the unprecedented number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-to-end-remain-in-mexico-border-policy-after-court-order\/\" title=\"Biden to End \u2018Remain in Mexico\u2019 Border Policy After Court Order\">asylum-seekers arriving<\/a> in our state,&#8221; expressed Hochul in \u2064a statement. &#8220;New York\u2063 cannot continue to \u2062do this on its own. It\u200b is past time for\u2063 President Biden to take action and provide New York with the aid needed to continue managing this ongoing crisis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The governor highlighted the \u200csignificant \u2062costs\u2062 incurred \u200cby the city and state in providing essential \u200cnecessities such as transportation, food, and lodging for\u200c the asylum-seekers. Hochul pointed out that\u2062 the only obstacle preventing these immigrants \u2064from\u200d finding employment was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kathy-hochul-calls-for-biden-to-intervene-in-new-york-immigrant-crisis\/\" title=\"Kathy Hochul urges Biden to address NY immigrant crisis.\">bureaucratic red tape surrounding work authorizations<\/a>, which the federal government has been slow to approve.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Asylum seekers are looking for jobs,\u200d and employers\u2062 are looking for workers\u200c \u2014 all that&#8217;s missing is the legal work status\u2064 to make that a reality,&#8221; Hochul emphasized in \u200ba series of posts on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platform<\/a> X, formerly known as Twitter. &#8220;The federal government\u2062 must expedite work authorizations so that people can immediately begin working.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Reimbursement and Access to Federal Facilities<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to\u200b financial aid, Hochul also requested reimbursement for the\u200b deployment of nearly 2,000 national guardsmen to the city and access\u200b to federal facilities within the state\u2064 to accommodate\u200d the\u200b growing \u200cnumber\u200b of immigrants.<\/p>\n<h3>The Cost of the Crisis<\/h3>\n<p>The governor&#8217;s plea for\u2063 aid aligns with\u200b New \u2064York City Mayor Eric Adams&#8217; prediction that\u200d the migrant crisis \u2063could cost the city\u200b a staggering $12 billion by 2025 if \u2064the \u200binflux\u2062 of\u2063 immigrants continues at the current rate. While Hochul did not provide \u200ca specific price tag in her request, the state has already allocated over $1.5 billion\u2062 to the city and may be required to contribute an additional $4.5 billion next year, based on current estimates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Without any capacity or responsibility to address \u2063the cause of the\u200c migrant influx, New Yorkers cannot then \u200cshoulder these costs,&#8221; Hochul wrote. &#8220;I cannot ask New Yorkers to pay for what is fundamentally \u200ba federal responsibility, and I urge the federal government to take\u2064 prompt and significant action today to meet its obligation to \u200cNew York State.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The federal government has already provided $145 million in \u200cdirect \u2063funding for\u200b New York&#8217;s migrant\u2063 crisis and\u2064 recently approved lodging for asylum-seekers at Floyd Bennett Field.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
