And that\u2019s \u200bwith potential prison time \u2064hanging over his \u200chead. He wants the job \u2062again, he\u2019s\u200d eligible for another term, and at least half of the \u2062party\u2019s voters want \u200bit for him. There\u2019s time for some shocking revelation to warp things before the \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-first-republican-debate-was-only-a-game-changer-for-the-delusional-media-desperately-hoping-for-one\/\" title=\"The first Republican debate was a disappointment for the media hoping for a game changer.\">official state \u200ccontests begin \u2014 assuming<\/a> anything shocks you anymore \u2014\u00a0but the debate wasn\u2019t shocking. \u200bIt was\u200b shouting, and\u2064 that\u2019s about it.<\/p>\n<p>Suggestions in the \u200dmedia\u200d that anyone \u201cwon\u201d the debate or in some\u200c way altered the course of the \u200brace are either delusional or they\u2019re efforts by anti-Trump \u201cconservatives\u201d to satisfy\u200b their dumb\u200b audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Case\u200c in \u2062point, Bret Stephens at The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2023\/08\/24\/opinion\/republican-debate-winners-losers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declared<\/a> Woman Lady Girl Gal <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/18\/nikki-haley-is-hillary-2-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nikki Haley<\/a> \u201cthe star of the evening\u201d\u200d with \u201cthe aura of someone who can \u2064win \u200ca general election.\u201d What Stephens really means\u200d is that Haley sent his \u200bheart \u200caflutter \u200dwhen she \u200csnapped at one of\u200c her opponents, \u201cYou have no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nikki-haley-unloads-on-vivek-ramaswamy-over-foreign-policy\/\" title=\"Nikki Haley criticizes Vivek Ramaswamy's foreign policy stance.\">foreign policy\u200c experience<\/a>, and it shows. It shows.\u201d That sassy little clap was directed at Vivek Ramaswamy \u2062because he said he wasn\u2019t interested in sending another $500 billion \u2064dollars to Ukraine, a sentiment\u200d shared by, oh, just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/08\/04\/politics\/cnn-poll-ukraine\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a majority of the U.S. population<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even more \u2064cringe-worthy was The Wall Street \u200bJournal editorial\u2062 board golf clapping what it\u2063 called\u2063 \u201ca very good Republican presidential debate.\u201d The paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/gop-presidential-debate-republicans-donald-trump-ron-desantis-chris-christie-nikki-haley-a24af59d?mod=opinion_lead_pos1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heralded Mike \u2062Pence<\/a>, polling\u2064 nationally\u2064 somewhere \u200dbetween \u200bzero and \u201cHe seems like a \u2064nice fellow,\u201d referring to him as \u200d\u201cthe\u2064 adult in the\u200d room\u201d because he too is \u2063eager to pump more taxpayer \u2062dollars\u200b into\u200d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-3-things-tucker-carlson-says-the-regime-doesnt-want-you-talking-about\/\" title=\"Tucker Carlson's Unspoken Topics\">foreign \u200dwar<\/a>. \u200b\u201cAt least for one night,\u201d the Journal said, \u201cGOP voters were able to see that they have better choices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Entertaining an alternate reality wherein the GOP nomination is \u200dup for equal grabs is pointless. Bret Stephens, editors at the Journal, and \u2063others in the media no doubt prefer\u2063 a Republican more in line with \u200btheir\u200d own sensibilities \u2014 which is to say, at odds with a majority\u200d of \u200dactual \u2063Republican voters.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not going to happen.
