I am a human being, \u2062an artist,\u200d an actor,\u201d Ram\u00edrez continued\u2063 in the\u2062 post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are living \u2063in a world\u200d that\u2064 has become increasingly hostile\u200b toward \u200canyone who\u2062 dares to free themselves from the gender binary, or \u200bdisrupt \u200dthe mainstream.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The profile in question was written by Brock Colyar, who also identifies as non-binary. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The\u2064 lengthy critique said,\u200d in part, that Che \u2064inspired \u201ceye-rolling from\u200c the (mostly younger) \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/children-assigned-to-write-love-poems-to-coronavirus-vaccine-as-teachers-union-pushes-for-continued-restrictions\/\" title=\"Children Assigned To Write Love Poems To Coronavirus Vaccine As Teachers Union Pushes For Continued Restrictions\">queer people<\/a>\u200d I know, who found the character a hyperbolized,\u2064 hypercringe representation of nonbinary identity.\u201d The writer \u2064goes on to ask if \u200bthe Max show \u201cwas just being cheeky and trolling us all about how \u2064self-serious we get over the politics \u200dof representation \u2062on a fizzy sitcom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ramirez responds \u200bto the criticism in Colyar\u2019s piece by saying, \u201cAnybody who benefits \u2062from\u200c patriarchy is going to have a problem with\u200d Che Diaz,\u201d and later wrote, \u201cOpinions about whether Che is representing an authentically queer\u200b person\u200b or not \u2063is\u2062 not for me to answer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The \u201cAnd Just\u2063 Like That\u201d star also said of the profile, \u201cI trust \u2062that those of \u2064you who matter, who are not petulant children, who are \u200csmart enough to catch on to what\u200d was actually going on there, can perceive it for what\u200b it is: an attempt to mock my \u200bthoughtfulness and\u200d softness, while dismissing \u2064a valid existence and real human being in favor\u200c of \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sara-ramirez-responds-to-sex-and-the-city-sequel-criticisms-says-world-is-hostile-to-anyone-outside-gender-binary\/\" title=\"Sara Ram\u00edrez addresses 'Sex And The City' sequel backlash, highlights world's hostility towards non-binary individuals.\">tv show critiques<\/a> \u2062that\u2064 belonged elsewhere.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI \u2062have\u200b a \u200cdry sense of humor and a voice. And I am \u200cnot afraid \u2062to use either,\u201d\u2064 Ram\u00edrez said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Che has \u200cdivided TV audiences since season one. <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ram\u00edrez defended the character \u2064back then when Che was dubbed \u201c<\/span>the \u2062indisputable worst\u200b character on television\u201d by The Daily Beast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m\">\u201cI\u2019m very\u2063 aware of the hate that exists \u2063online, but I have to protect my own mental health and my own artistry,\u201d the star said. \u200d\u201cAnd that\u2019s way more \u200dimportant to me because I\u2019m a real human being. I\u2019m really proud of the representation that we\u2019ve created.\u2064 We have built a character who is a human being, who is imperfect, who\u2019s \u200bcomplex, who is not here\u200c to \u2064be liked,\u2063 who\u2019s not here for anybody\u2019s approval.
