The\u2063 previous week\u2019s level was\u200b revised up modestly \u2062by 1,000. Economists polled by Reuters had\u2064 forecast 240,000\u200c claims for the latest week.<\/p>\n<p>The labor market is\u200b continuing to defy expectations in the face \u200cof the Fed\u2019s aggressive interest \u2064hikes since March 2022,\u2063 as employers hoard workers after struggling\u2064 to find labor during\u200c the \u2064COVID-19 pandemic.
