The department has already lost over 430 officers in their first year and\u200b a half of \u200dduty since 2017, with many joining other \u2062agencies before completing 10 years of service.<\/p>\n<p>The contract, with a cumulative cost of $994 million, \u200dincludes \u2063a starting\u2064 pay increase for new recruits, as well as four\u2063 raises of 3 percent over \u200cthe four years. By 2027, the starting salary for \u200bnew recruits will reach\u200b $94,000.<\/p>\n<p>While the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/los-angeles-police-department-receives-pay-raises-in-approved-labor-agreement\/\" title=\"LA Police Department gets pay raises in approved labor deal.\">contract received overwhelming support<\/a> \u2064from\u2062 the council,\u200b Councilors Nithya Raman, Eunisses Hernandez,\u2063 and Hugo Soto-Martinez voted \u2064against it, calling the\u200b deal\u200d &#8220;irresponsible.&#8221; Ms. Hernandez \u200cexpressed\u2062 concerns about the allocation of\u2064 city funds to the police\u200d department, stating \u2062that\u200d it starves \u2064other departments of \u2063necessary \u2064resources.<\/p>\n<p>Councilwoman\u200b Traci Park, on the other hand, emphasized the contract&#8217;s importance in addressing\u2063 recruitment and retention issues. She stated, \u2064&#8221;This\u200d contract \u2064demonstrates a commitment to our police officers.
