They <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/en\/speech\/b0b68-minister-helen-mcentees-opening-speech-criminal-justice-incitement-to-violence-or-hatred-and-hate-offences-bill-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refer to<\/a> a reported\u2062 29 percent increase in\u200c hate crimes in 2022 compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>However, Scallan argues that an increase in reported hate offenses doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean an\u200b actual\u200c increase in hate crimes.
