The example given in \u200cthe dictionary is a \u201cdisjunction between theory\u2064 and practice,\u201d\u2064 which is an apt illustration for what we see coming out of Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>For there is\u2062 indeed a\u200c great and sharp disconnect between how we \u2063view, punish,\u2062 and perceive wanton infanticide in one \u2064case and the issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pentagon-briefing-for-senators-on-abortion-policy-changes-no-minds\/\" title=\"Senators remain unmoved by Pentagon briefing on abortion policy changes.\">late-term \u2063abortion<\/a> in the \u2063other, \u200cwhich with the aid of a physician, can even be legally extended to \u200bwhat \u200bthey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mother-sentenced-to-50-years-for-heartless-killing-of-newborn-they-never-even-found-the-body\/\" title=\"Mother gets 50-year sentence for heartless newborn killing - Body remains unfound.\">call \u201cpost-birth abortion<\/a>,\u201d as argued in the <a href=\"https:\/\/jme.bmj.com\/content\/39\/5\/261\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Medical Ethics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>A Heartbreaking\u200d Case of Infanticide<\/h3>\n<p>As reported by the\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/crime-and-courts\/2023\/08\/18\/iowa-mother-taylor-blaha-gets-50-years-in-prison-for-newborns-death-disappearance-fort-dodge\/70621041007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Des Moines Register<\/a>, \u206424-year-old \u200bTaylor Blaha of Iowa pleaded guilty to second-degree\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/illegal-alien-arrested-alleged-rape-murder-11-year-old-texas-girl-nationwide-manhunt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a> and was sentenced to 50 years in prison after she drowned her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/award-winning-country-singer-comes-out-with-pro-life-song-that-hits-home\/\" title=\"Award Winning Country Singer Comes Out With Pro-Life Song\u00a0That \u2018Hits Home\u2019\">infant daughter<\/a> in a \u2062bathtub with \u2063the aid of her boyfriend before \u200cdisposing of the body in \u2063the woods. The body has yet to be discovered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><strong>WARNING: The following paragraphs contains graphic imagery \u2064some readers may find disturbing.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to the\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/08\/21\/mom-admits-to-drowning-her-baby-to-hide-meth-in-her-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>, \u2063Blaha said baby Kayleen was born healthy at home on Nov. 16, 2022 and, at the time, Blaha was addicted to and using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/prominent-nyu-doctor-sounds-alarm-illegals-bringing-deadly-drug-resistant-diseases-us-porous-border-health-emergency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">methamphetamine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kayleen began\u200b to cry, as babies\u200b do, and Blaha and her boyfriend, Brandon Thoma, became concerned that the cries would \u200dannoy their neighbors, leading them to call the police. As\u200b the new mother was \u2063on\u2062 drugs, the couple was \u200cconcerned if police became involved,\u200c the\u2064 truth\u2063 would come out\u2063 and\u200c Department of Child Services would become involved,\u200b which would lead\u2062 to \u200cthem \u2062losing custody\u200b over their 2-year-old son.<\/p>\n<p>Their solution: drown newborn Kayleen.<\/p>\n<p>Blaha reportedly \u2064cut a section of Kayleen\u2019s umbilical cord before\u200b Thoma \u2062demonstrated how to\u2063 hold Kayleen underwater \u201cby pushing down on her chest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an\u2062 official court statement, \u2062Blaha described the\u200d drowning: \u201cWhen I tried to take my hands off her, he would put my hands back on \u2062her and encourage me to keep\u2062 going. She died \u200das a result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple then \u201cstuff[ed] her lifeless body into a backpack\u200b and discard[ed] it in a wooded \u2063area. The baby\u2019s remains were \u200cnever \u200brecovered,\u201d the\u2062 Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>The horrid details of this\u200b story are enough to \u200dmake\u2063 the most callous stoic shudder.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Taylor \u2064K. Blaha sentenced \u200bfor drowning newborn daughter <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EW7v7X5XDM\">https:\/\/t.co\/EW7v7X5XDM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MontanaMama (@406mama) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/406mama\/status\/1693981971377270810?\">August 22, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>The Ethical Contradiction<\/h3>\n<p>When \u2063my eighth child, a son, died during childbirth, we begged \u200bGod to give him breath, to bring him back \u200cto us, \u200dand wept bitterly \u2063holding our lifeless child \u200bin our arms. We would have\u200b done anything to hear his \u2064cries.<\/p>\n<p>For this\u200c young woman\u200c to be given a living child\u200b by the goodness of \u200dGod and to despise\u200d its cries, its breath,\u2063 and its life to the point of smothering it out is especially horrifying to me, as it\u200b should be to anyone.<\/p>\n<p>This young lady and her boyfriend already had a child. They had a future ahead of them, and whatever difficulties \u2062they had, struggling in the economically depressed mid-West, they were not so insurmountable as to necessitate or warrant the sacrifice of \u200da human \u2064life. (I say this as a life-long\u2062 child of the rust belt.)<\/p>\n<p>The conversation regarding them \u200bis not\u2064 that \u201cthey should have \u2064just had a doctor sign off on the\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/planned-parenthood-fighting-californias-proposed-ban-child-marriage-ensure-abortions-continue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">child\u2019s termination<\/a>.\u201d Rather, the overwhelming response is that they committed murder and \u200drightly so.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, \u200dwe have a\u200b disjunction (that word again) here between what we know to be an act \u200cof murder in one case and a \u201cmedical procedure\u201d in the other. We\u2064 will\u2063 send this woman to prison for what she did herself, but we let both the mothers and the physicians go free for committing what is essentially the same act? \u200bAfter \u200call, abortion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nyt-writer-argues-adoption-dangerous-potentially-traumatic-abortion-op-ed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is less \u2063traumatic<\/a> \u2064 than \u200badoption, right?<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/worldpopulationreview.com\/state-rankings\/late-term-abortion-laws-by-state\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Population Review<\/a>, several states allow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scotus-to-hear-appeal-over-ky-abortion-law\/\" title=\"SCOTUS to hear appeal over Ky. abortion law\">late term abortion<\/a>.
