It instantly caused a\u2064 stir among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/university-of-virginia-students-vandalize-thomas-jefferson-posters\/\" title=\"University of Virginia Students Vandalize Thomas Jefferson Posters\">left-wing students<\/a>, \u2062who \u2063were \u200dincensed \u200bthat the \u2064pastor dared to call a transgender\u200b \u201cwoman\u201d \u200ba male.<\/p>\n<p>Mentioning the transgender student\u200d by name, Schmidt\u2019s \u200dsign read, \u201cGod created male and female and\u200c Artemis Langford is a \u200bmale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liberal students quickly\u200d went into action, calling\u2062 school administrators. As the university\u2019s student newspaper, Branding Iron, noted at the time, \u201cStudents crowded around T. Schmidt blocking his message from sight until Dean Ryan O\u2019Neil asked\u2063 him to take down the name of the student \u2063displayed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt \u200bstarted when people saw the sign, \u200cparticularly females,\u201d Schmidt explained. \u201cThey \u200bwere agitated, \u200cquickly making\u200c phone\u200d calls \u2063to spread my message.\u2062 Then a bigger crowd \u200cgathered. They wanted to block my sign so nobody could see \u2064it, \u200bwith \u2062them accusing me \u2062of being unkind\u2062 and not friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eventually,\u2063 Dean of Student Affairs Ryan O\u2019Neil arrived and asked Schmidt \u2063to remove the \u200dtransgender student\u2019s name \u2062from \u200cthe sign.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt\u2062 said he \u2063understood why\u2064 the administration would\u200b ask \u200dhim to eliminate the part of his \u200csign that\u2062 mentioned a\u200b student by name, but he still felt he was \u200bin the right.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m\u2063 just \u200ctrying to tell the\u2063 truth and \u200cbring people\u2063 to God. That\u2019s \u2063all there is. There are not\u2062 any more genders than that. Biology\u200b teaches \u2064everybody\u2064 about that,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cPeople would rather\u200b believe a lie than see the truth.\u200c There is nothing more loving than being a Christian and preaching the gospel.\u200c I \u200bam trying to show people the love of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-sides-with-christian-who-told-truth-about-male-claiming-to-be-female\/\" title=\"Judge supports Christian who exposed truth about male claiming to be female.\">sign\u2063 incident spurred school officials<\/a> \u200cto place a one-year ban on Schmidt\u2019s\u2063 information table in the \u2064student union, the Epoch \u2064Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>Administrators sent out a message to\u2063 students, saying Schmidt was banned because \u200bhe \u201cviolated the university policy prohibiting discrimination and harassment,\u201d\u2063 noting that \u201ca line \u200cwas crossed when a\u200c student was harassed by name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 transgender \u200bstudent in \u200bquestion, Artemis Langford, became a\u200c lightning rod for\u2062 controversy at the\u200d University\u2063 of Wyoming for being allowed to become a member \u200cof a women\u2019s \u2062sorority when he joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter last year.<\/p>\n<p>Some\u200b members \u200dof \u2062the \u2062sorority told \u2062school \u2062officials \u200bthat they \u201clive \u200din\u2063 constant fear\u201d of the 6-foot-2, 260-pound man who was allowed to join their ranks and is allowed free access to the \u200dwomen\u2019s sorority \u200dhouse.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>Seven members of the college group filed a \u200blawsuit against \u2063their school and \u2062sorority for allowing Langford to \u2063join.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/panel-of-young-women-have-trouble-answering-what-is-a-woman-on-dating-podcast\/\" title=\"Panel Of Young Women Have Trouble Answering \u2018What Is A Woman?\u2019 On Dating Podcast\">adult human male<\/a> does not become a woman just because he tells\u200c others that he has a female \u2018gender identity\u2019 and behaves\u200b in what he \u2062believes to \u200dbe a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/women-file-lawsuit-against-sorority-after-it-accepts-man-who-allegedly-watches-them-while-visibly-aroused\/\" title=\"Women File Lawsuit Against Sorority After It Accepts Man Who Allegedly \u2018Watches\u2019 Them While Visibly Aroused\">stereotypically female manner<\/a>,\u201d the suit filed with \u200cthe U.S. District Court exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>But this week, a federal judge has sided with Schmidt \u200cand said \u2063that his sign \u200cshould \u200dnot\u2064 have \u200dbeen censored and\u2064 he \u2063should not be suffering \u200dthe temporary ban.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Senior District Judge Nancy Freudenthal found that the inclusion of the\u2063 student\u2019s name was integral\u2062 to Schmidt\u2019s \u200cmessage\u2064 and his free speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchmidt\u2019s \u200cspeech was expressive, with the intent to convey a particular message,\u201d Freudenthal \u200dwrote in her decision. \u201cSchmidt mentions Artemis Langford by name, but that is unavoidable, as the debate revolves around the propriety of a particular biological male participating in an activity\u2014joining a sorority\u2014traditionally reserved for biological females.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The judge added that Schmidt\u2019s use \u200dof Langford\u2019s\u2064 name was \u2062not threatening \u200dor harassment, but a true \u201cdebate about gender identity, a matter of public importance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSchmidt \u200bdoes not misgender Langford to denigrate her,\u2063 but to debate a public issue,\u201d the judge explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is particularly true on college\u200b campuses because they are \u2062the\u200d \u2018marketplace of ideas.\u2019 While elementary \u200dand\u2062 public schools \u200dprioritize \u200cthe inculcation of social values, universities seek to encourage inquiry \u2062and\u200c the challenging\u200b of a priori assumptions,\u201d the judge added. \u201cTherefore, this Court finds that Schmidt\u2019s speech is protected free expression and not harassment or \u200bdiscriminatory conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For \u200cits part, the \u2062school insisted that\u2063 its one-year ban was appropriate and said that they \u2062instituted the punishment to \u201cprioritize protection of its\u200d students\u200c from unlawful\u2064 harassment\u2063 and discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately,\u2064 many universities are at the forefront \u2062of quashing free speech and thwarting freedom \u200cof religion.\u2063 The University of Wyoming has \u2062engaged in an example of that.
