They concluded that Ukraine deserved a $1 billion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-plans-massive-spending-binge-on-green-energy-after-losing-taxpayers-hundreds-of-millions-on-failed-investments-report\/\" title=\"Biden Plans Massive Spending Binge On Green Energy After Losing Taxpayers Hundreds Of Millions On Failed Investments: Report\">loan guarantee<\/a> due to its progress in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-harris-unveil-plan-to-address-root-causes-of-migration-tackle-economic-inequality-managehumane-migration\/\" title=\"Biden, Harris Unveil Plan To Address \u2018Root Causes\u2019 Of Migration: Tackle \u2018Economic Inequality,\u2019 \u2018Manage\u2026Humane Migration\u2019\">combatting corruption<\/a>. However, this loan guarantee took a different turn when then-Vice President Joe Biden \u2064used it as leverage to \u2063remove a controversial prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-how-a-pizza-box-and-hair-led-police-to-the-suspected-gilgo-beach-serial-killer\/\" title=\"Pizza box and hair help police find suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer.\">task \u200dforce<\/a>, consisting of officials from the\u200d departments of Justice, State, and Treasury, recommended \u200bthe loan guarantee based on Ukraine&#8217;s reform agenda and economic need. The memo obtained by Just The News stated, &#8220;The IPC recommends moving forward with a\u200d third loan guarantee for Ukraine in the near-term.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite this recommendation, Biden, who was \u200bleading U.S. policy toward Ukraine at the time, insisted on the\u200d ouster of prosecutor Viktor Shokin before \u200doffering the loan guarantee. Shokin \u2063was widely seen as corrupt, and diplomats from the West had raised doubts about him.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, \u2063Shokin was also a threat to the Ukrainian energy company Burisma,\u2063 which \u200bhad recently appointed Hunter Biden, Joe Biden&#8217;s son, to its board. In February 2016, Shokin&#8217;s office was granted permission by a court\u200d to seize assets from a top Burisma executive.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2062 Devon Archer, one\u200d of Hunter&#8217;s former business partners, Shokin&#8217;s actions posed \u2062a\u200b significant threat. Archer \u200brevealed, &#8220;He ended up seizing assets \u2063of \u2064 [Burisma owner] Nikolai [Zlochevsky] \u2014 a house, some cars, a couple properties. And Nikolai actually never went back to Ukraine after Shokin seized\u200b all\u200d of his assets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"fr\" dir=\"ltr\">Ep. 13  Part 2. Devon Archer <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R1sxSuPrKq\">pic.twitter.com\/R1sxSuPrKq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TuckerCarlson\/status\/1687436522625159168?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 4, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other \u2064memos reveal that some Obama administration officials had initially sought to work \u2063with Shokin and \u2063were impressed with his work. \u200dHowever,\u200b Hunter&#8217;s position on the board of Burisma became a point of contention within the administration, as it directly undermined \u2064the United States&#8217; anti-corruption mission in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, Biden successfully pushed for Shokin&#8217;s ouster\u2063 in December 2015, with \u2064the Ukrainian parliament voting to remove \u200dhim in March\u200d 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Biden later\u2063 bragged about his involvement in the affair during a 2018 event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations. He proudly stated,\u200b &#8220;I\u2064 said, &#8216;You&#8217;re not getting the billion.&#8217;\u200d If the prosecutor is not fired, you&#8217;re\u2062 not getting the money. Well, son of a\u200b b****, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These actions by Biden in\u2063 Ukraine became \u2062the subject \u200bof scrutiny during former President Donald Trump&#8217;s first impeachment and Senate\u2062 trial. Trump was impeached over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where he asked for an investigation into corruption allegations\u2062 involving Biden.
