For\u2062 example,\u200b if a city is building a toll bridge with a lifespan of 90 years, they can sell bonds for 30 years and gradually\u2064 reduce the principal amount owed. These bonds, backed by bridge tolls, are known as revenue bonds.<\/p>\n<p>However, cities \u200bsometimes require additional \u2063funds\u200b for everyday expenses, such as clearing streets after a\u2062 blizzard. In these cases, they can issue general\u2063 obligation bonds \u200bor tax anticipation notes.
