But\u00a0Future Forward USA Action <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/nonprofits\/organizations\/824170762\/202203279349300615\/full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in tax documents \u2062that it \u200bpassed $15.3 million to Future Forward.<\/p>\n<p>Chauncey McLean, who worked on former President Barack Obama&#8217;s presidential campaigns, leads both Future Forward and its nonprofit.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Related Stories<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n        <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/biden-administration-doles-out-more-than-1-billion-for-future-covid-19-vaccines-drugs-5479200\">Biden Administration Doles Out More Than $1 Billion \u2063for Future COVID-19 Vaccines, Drugs<\/a><br \/>\n        <br \/>\n        <span class=\"text-comp-caption\">8\/23\/2023<\/span>\n      <\/li>\n<li>\n        <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/lawyer-says-biden-administration-has-no-hard-evidence-to-support-ghost-gun-rule-5477946\">Lawyer Says\u2063 Biden Administration Has No Hard Evidence \u200bto Support \u2018Ghost Gun\u2019 Rule<\/a><br \/>\n        <br \/>\n        <span class=\"text-comp-caption\">8\/23\/2023<\/span>\n      <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Future Forward did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Free Beacon <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/legal-experts-call-for-investigation-into-bidens-favorite-super-pac-over-serious-financial-discrepancies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first reported<\/a> on\u200d the discrepancy.<\/p>\n<p>The National Legal and Policy \u2064Center (NLPC) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23925132-future-forward-complaint\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filed a complaint<\/a> with\u2062 the\u00a0Federal Election Commission \u2062(FEC), requesting the discrepancy be investigated \u2063because it appeared to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-democrats-call-on-justice-department-to-investigate-clarence-thomas\/\" title=\"House Democrats urge DOJ to probe Clarence Thomas.\">violate\u2064 federal law<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Future Forward &#8220;has\u200b failed to disclose \u200dthe receipt of approximately $12 million,&#8221; the complaint states.\u2064 It called on the FEC to\u00a0&#8220;launch a full\u2062 investigation of this complaint by \u2063issuing subpoenas\u200d for documents\u200b and \u2062testimony.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The question is, where did that money go?&#8221; Paul Kamenar,\u00a0NLPC counsel, told The Epoch Times. Future Forward, he said, &#8220;has some explaining to do here with respect to the non-disclosure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NLPC also says that Future Forward USA Action should have disclosed the \u200didentity of its donors because the donations appear to have been earmarked for \u2063Future Forward, with the nonprofit acting as a mere conduit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;ve got to disclose who \u200dthe donors\u200d were to the [nonprofit], because those are really the\u200d donors to\u2064 the PAC,&#8221; Mr.\u00a0Kamenar said.<\/p>\n<p>Similar investigations have resulted in fines.<\/p>\n<p>The American Conservative Union, for instance, reported \u2064receiving $1.7 \u200cmillion and promptly directing \u2064them to a\u200d PAC, but did not\u2063 disclose the identity of the donor.\u2063 The FEC determined (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/files\/legal\/murs\/6920\/17044434756.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) that violated a law that says &#8220;No person shall make a contribution in the name of another person\u200d or knowingly permit his name\u200d to be used to \u200deffect \u200csuch a contribution, and no person shall knowingly accept a contribution made by one person in the name of another person.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The FEC fined the\u200d union $350,000.<\/p>\n<p>An \u2062FEC spokeswoman \u2064told The Epoch Times: &#8220;The FEC \u200ddoes not comment on potential or pending complaints. By law, all enforcement\u200c matters must remain confidential\u2064 until they\u2019re closed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The commission says that\u200b it investigates possible violations uncovered through various means, including\u200c reviews of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/60-minutes-edits-exchange-with-fla-gov-desantis-reporter\/\" title=\"\u201960 Minutes\u2019 edits exchange with Fla. Gov. DeSantis, reporter\">campaign finance reports<\/a>, audits, and complaints.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint will be\u2064 processed by the FEC \u200cand likely sent to Future Forward,\u2062 which will have\u2064 an opportunity to \u2063lodge\u200d a defense.<\/p>\n<h2>Watchdogs Support Probe<\/h2>\n<p>Future Forward had submitted the $3.4\u200c million number \u2063to the\u00a0FEC, a figure far below the $15.3 million represented as going to Future Forward \u200din documents sent to the IRS by Future Forward USA Action.<\/p>\n<p>Watchdogs said the missing money should trigger a probe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The apparent\u2064 numerous \u2063and blatant \u200cdiscrepancies in the \u2063recent filings by both the nonprofit and the super PAC are beyond\u2064 troubling,&#8221; said Kendra Arnold, executive \u2062director\u200c of watchdog group Foundation for Accountability and Civic \u200bTrust, told the Free \u2064Beacon. &#8220;This situation\u2062 calls for an investigation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jason Torchinsky, a nonprofit attorney, also supports an FEC investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If the FEC \u2062determined that there \u2064were $12 million in\u200b underreported receipts by a super PAC, that could result in a substantial fine because FEC penalties\u2063 are often assessed\u2063 based on the amount at issue,&#8221; Mr. \u2063Torchinsky said.<\/p>\n<p>A \u200bprobe could result in fines and\u200c even criminal penalties,\u200c depending on the results.<\/p>\n<p>If\u200d a probe does not take place, then the NLPC is prepared to file a legal complaint against the FEC &#8220;for \u2064not enforcing\u2064 their laws and \u200bregulations,&#8221; Mr.\u00a0Kamenar said.<\/p>\n<p>The White House \u2063did not respond to a \u2064request for comment.<\/p>\n<h2>Biden PAC<\/h2>\n<p>Top Biden \u2064administration officials \u200bhave praised Future Forward.<\/p>\n<p>Anita Dunn, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-76-of-141-republican-representatives-in-pa-send-letter-to-congress-asking-them-to-reject-states-20-electors\/\" title=\"BREAKING: 76 of 141 Republican Representatives in PA Send Letter to Congress Asking Them to Reject State's 20 Electors\">top adviser<\/a> to\u2064 President \u200bBiden, recently \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/07\/14\/us\/politics\/biden-future-forward-super-pac.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that Future Forward was &#8220;the pre-eminent super PAC supporting the Biden-Harris agenda and 2024 efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The super PAC was &#8220;critical&#8221; in \u200bhelping President Biden win \u200dthe 2020\u2063 election and would \u2064&#8221;again\u200b play\u200d a key role in 2024,&#8221; added\u00a0Jennifer O\u2019Malley Dillon, \u2063a White House official who\u2062 served as the president&#8217;s 2020 \u200dcampaign manager.<\/p>\n<p>Those comments came after President Biden in 2022 said dark money was a &#8220;serious problem facing our democracy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly $12 million is unaccounted for in financial disclosures of a super PAC supporting President Joe Biden, leading to demands for an inquiry.
