With over 300,000 UPS employees threatening\u200d to strike without a\u2064 new deal, the \u2062outcome was crucial.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our\u2063 Teamsters-represented employees have voted to\u2063 overwhelmingly ratify a new five-year National Master \u2064Agreement that covers more\u2063 than 300,000 full- and part-time UPS employees \u200cin the U.S,&#8221; stated UPS in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All local supplemental agreements have\u2063 also been\u2064 ratified, except for\u2064 one which\u2064 will\u200b be finalized shortly. \u200dVoting \u2062results\u2062 for agreements\u2063 covering UPS employees\u2063 under locals 705 and 710 are expected soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Teamsters Ratify New Contract After Months of Concerns<\/h2>\n<p>The Teamsters voted to ratify the agreement with the support of 86.3 \u200cpercent \u200cof its members at UPS.\u2062 The contract\u200b will be retroactively effective\u200d from August 1.<\/p>\n<p>This \u2062vote marked the largest margin in favor of a \u200dcontract ever at UPS, with \u2064a record-breaking 58 percent of members participating.<\/p>\n<p>The new\u200d five-year contract includes wage \u2062increases for both full- and part-time workers, enhanced workplace protections \u2063such as the addition of air conditioning \u2063to delivery \u200dtrucks, and the promise of more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ups-and-teamsters-blame-each-other-for-walking-out-of-contract-negotiations\/\" title=\"UPS and Teamsters point fingers over contract negotiation walkout.\">full-time job opportunities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement had\u200c overwhelming support among\u2062 union\u200b leadership, with\u200b a vote of\u2064 161-1 in\u200c favor\u2062 of the \u2063deal.\u200c Teamsters General\u200b President Sean O&#8217;Brien referred to it as &#8220;the most lucrative agreement the Teamsters have ever negotiated at \u200bUPS.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the template for how workers should be\u200c paid and protected nationwide, and nonunion companies like Amazon better pay\u200d attention,&#8221; said\u2063 O&#8217;Brien in an Aug. 22 press\u200d statement.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cunion announced that all supplemental agreements were also \u200bratified for the 300,000 UPS \u2062employees, except for \u2064the &#8220;Local 769 LAI supplement&#8221; covering 174 members in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>O&#8217;Brien \u2063expects to \u2063negotiate a new deal for the workers in Miami, \u200bFlorida, by this weekend, which\u200b will allow the full national agreement to \u2064take effect.<\/p>\n<p>The Teamsters stated that\u200d the nationwide agreement with UPS will take effect \u2062&#8221;as soon as this \u2064supplement is renegotiated and ratified.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The union highlighted \u2064over 60 changes and improvements to the national master agreement, making it the most comprehensive in Teamsters history.<\/p>\n<h2>UPS \u2064Employees\u2064 to Receive Generous Concessions<\/h2>\n<p>Full and part-time union members will receive an additional $2.75 per hour this year, with total \u200craises reaching $7.50 an hour by\u200c 2028.
