In \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What It Takes<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,\u201d Richard Ben Cramer\u2019s detailed blow-by-blow of the 1988 election cycle, Ben Cramer describes Biden\u2019s ability to \u201cconnect\u201d as his greatest supposed skill. This has been the\u200b pitch \u2062for Biden for decades: not much in\u2063 the way of brains, not a tremendously resourceful \u200bpolitician, awkward on his feet \u2013\u200c but he <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cares<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In the words\u200d of Mark Gitenstein, Biden\u2019s 1988 speechwriter and \u2064a four-decade advisor, \u201cHis ability to communicate with \u200cpeople in pain is\u200c maybe his most powerful strength.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Or maybe, just maybe, Biden \u2064was never \u2063an empathetic \u2064man.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maybe he simply trafficked \u2064in ersatz empathy, \u200call \u200dthe while feeding his\u200b own narcissism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That story certainly looks more plausible these days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week, Biden visited Maui. He \u2063did so nearly two weeks after the worst wildfire in modern American history killed hundreds of \u200bAmericans. \u200bMeanwhile, Biden vacationed in Delaware \u200bon the beach, telling reporters he had \u201cno comment\u201d on the situation;\u2062 he\u200b then \u2063jet-set off to Lake Tahoe before finally heading\u2063 to Lahaina. Once he reached Hawaii, he proceeded to explain that he felt the \u2062pain of \u200dthose \u200dwhose family members had been incinerated. Jill Biden Reported The Small Kitchen Fire That Was Doused In 20 Minutes\">small kitchen fire<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t want to compare difficulties,\u200b but we have a little sense, Jill and I, of what \u200cit was like to lose a home,\u201d he jabbered.\u2063 \u201cYears ago, \u2062now, 15 years, I was in Washington doing \u2018Meet the Press\u2019\u2026 Lightning struck at home on a little lake outside the home, not a lake a big pond. It hit the wire and came up underneath our home, into the\u2026air condition ducts. To \u2062make a long story short, I almost lost my wife,\u2063 my \u201967\u2062 Corvette, and my cat.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>In reality, back in 2004, lightning caused a kitchen fire in Biden\u2019s home that was put out \u200bin 20 minutes with no \u2064other damage.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If\u2064 this were \u200can isolated incident, \u200cwe could chalk it up\u2064 to Biden\u2019s encroaching senility. But it isn\u2019t. After presiding over the botched \u200cpullout \u200dfrom\u200b Afghanistan \u200bthat resulted in\u2064 the \u200dreturn of the Taliban, the murder\u2062 of 13 American servicemembers, the abandonment \u200cof hundreds of American\u2062 citizens and\u2063 thousands of American green card holders, and the subjugation \u2062of \u200bsome tens of millions of\u200b women, Biden essentially shrugged. Then, when\u2062 faced with the families \u200cof wounded and killed American soldiers, he attempted to \u201cfeel \u2062their pain\u201d\u2064 by invoking the death of his son, Beau. According to Cheryl Rex, whose\u2063 son \u200bdied in the Abbey Gate bombing of August 26, 2021, \u201cHis \u2063words to me were, \u2018My wife,\u2062 Jill, \u2062and I know how you feel. We lost \u2064our son as well and brought him\u200d home in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taliban-mocks-u-s-after-withdrawal-supporters-parade-coffin-draped-with-american-flag\/\" title=\"Taliban Mocks U.S. After Withdrawal, Supporters Parade Coffin Draped With American Flag\">flag-draped coffin<\/a>.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Biden has cited Beau \u2064in\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-is-a-narcissist-not-an-empath\/\" title=\"Biden: Narcissist, not empathetic.\">similar instances multiple times<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the Jewish community, the \u200bdeath of a loved \u2064one\u200c is followed by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shiva<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a seven-day period of mourning. During <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shiva<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, mourners don\u2019t \u200dleave \u2062their homes; they are instead cared\u200d for by the community, provided with food \u2062and communal \u2062prayer. Members of the community visit the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shiva <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">house to provide comfort. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>The first rule of visiting a \u200d <\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shiva<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  \u2064house: don\u2019t talk about your own experiences with death or pain. It\u2019s gauche and irrelevant and trivializing.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Yet \u200bthis is Biden\u2019s first move.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Empathy is the\u200d quality of putting yourself in the place of others. But Biden isn\u2019t an empath.
