of the key\u200c witnesses\u200c in the government\u2019s case against former President Donald Trump regarding the alleged \u2062mishandling\u200d of\u200d classified documents has \u2063changed his testimony after obtaining new counsel.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOn July 5, 2023, Trump Employee 4 informed\u200c Chief Judge Boasberg that he no \u2063longer wished to be represented by Mr. \u200dWoodward and\u2063 that, going forward, \u2064he wished \u2063to be\u2062 represented by \u2064the\u200b First Assistant Federal Defender,\u201d the new filing stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImmediately after receiving new counsel, Trump \u2063Employee 4 retracted\u200c his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/key-witness-in-trump-mar-a-lago-documents-case-retracted-prior-false-statement-jack-smith\/\" title=\"Key witness in Trump Mar-a-Lago documents case admits to making false statement: Jack Smith.\">prior false testimony<\/a> and\u200b provided information \u2062that implicated \u2062Nauta, \u200dDe\u2064 Oliveira, and Trump in efforts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-indicted-who-is-carlos-de-oliveira\/\" title=\"Carlos De Oliveira: The man behind Donald Trump's indictment.\">delete security camera footage<\/a>, \u200das\u200c set forth in the superseding indictment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yuscil Taveras, who worked\u2062 in IT at \u2062Trump\u2019s residence in South Florida\u2019s Mar-a-Lago Club, has\u200b \u201cretracted his prior\u2062 false testimony,\u201d a court filing by special \u200dcounsel Jack Smith submitted Tuesday stated.<\/p>\n<p>Taveras, \u200bwho\u2064 had been identified as \u201cTrump Employee 4\u201d \u200din previous documents, had been\u2063 represented by Stanley Woodward, the same attorney representing Trump and\u2062 his employees\u200d and co-defendants Waltine Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira.<\/p>\n<p>Woodward\u2063 was being paid by the Trump-aligned Save America Political Action Committee, according to \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/08\/23\/trump-mar-a-lago-witness-flips-doj-filing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2063 prosecutors, Taveras had been asked by De Oliveira, the property manager at \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-charges-unveiled-trump-mar-lago-documents-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump\u2019s home<\/a>, to \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-doj-thrilled-after-key-trump-witness-changes-his-testimony-upon-hiring-a-federal-defender\/\" title=\"Biden DOJ elated as key Trump witness alters testimony with federal defender.\">delete \u200csecurity footage<\/a> that investigators had subpoenaed, telling\u2064 him that \u201cthe boss\u201d wanted\u200b it to happen.<\/p>\n<p>Taveras refused, according to the \u2063court document, but told\u200c the grand \u200cjury\u200c that no \u2063such request\u200d was ever made.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, De Oliveira \u2062told the grand jury that he had not asked \u2064Taveras to delete\u2064 the footage.<\/p>\n<p>Taveras \u200bhad spoken\u2063 to an attorney at the federal defender\u2019s office in D.C. after\u2063 Smith raised potential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/special-counsel-jack-smith-attempts-boot-mar-lago-lawyer-trial-claiming-divided-loyalties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conflict-of-interest \u200dissues<\/a> regarding Woodward\u2019s representation of all three defendants and potential witnesses against\u200b those defendants.<\/p>\n<p>After that discussion, Taveras\u200d hired the federal attorney and, according to the filing, \u201cimmediately\u201d changed his testimony.<\/p>\n<h3>Read the entire court filing <a our body politic'\">grand jury investigations<\/a> into Trump\u2019s\u2062 alleged \u2063criminal\u2063 mishandling\u200c of <a materials began<\/a>\u200c in the spring\u200d of last year, after the National Archives and \u2063Records Administration contacted the Department of Justice \u2062over concerns regarding \u200bdocuments that \u200chad been accounted for.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the investigation, both Taveras and DeOliveira were\u200b informed that\u2062 they were under investigation \u2063for perjury and obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n<p>Taveras has not been charged in relation to this investigation.<\/p>\n<p>All three co-defendants in the \u2064case \u2014 Trump, Nauta, and\u200c De Oliveira \u2014
