Unsatisfied with the department&#8217;s response,\u200d the committee expressed concerns\u2064 about the\u2064 lack of timely communication \u2062with\u200c Congress.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Committee Demands Transparency\u2064 and Accountability<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Accordingly, we are writing\u2064 to directly reiterate our request \u2064that the department\u200d notify and brief the committee upon any relevant developments regarding the status of Mr. Malley&#8217;s employment\u2062 and his ability\u2062 to access \u200dclassified information at the department,&#8221; the lawmakers stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The committee also expressed bipartisan interest in hearing testimony or\u2064 receiving a briefing from Mr. Malley on Iran\u200b policy. However, it was discovered\u2062 that some officials, including Mr. Blinken,\u200b were aware of\u2062 Mr.\u200c Malley&#8217;s situation and lack of security clearance for several months but \u200cfailed to inform Congress.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the department&#8217;s promise to consider the committee&#8217;s request for \u2064regular \u200cupdates, the congressmen expressed their dissatisfaction, emphasizing the need for greater transparency and accountability. They restated their demand for\u200d the department to keep them informed about any relevant developments \u200dconcerning Mr. Malley&#8217;s employment\u200b status and access to classified information.<\/p>\n<p>The committee members highlighted \u200cthe significance of recent news that Mr. Malley will be taking on new roles as a visiting professor\u2062 at Princeton University&#8217;s \u2064School of Public and International Affairs and as a senior fellow at Yale&#8217;s Jackson School of Global Affairs.
