The officer was identified only in sealed\u2063 orders.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District \u2062Judge Tanya Chutkan had earlier approved \u200ca limited protective order that did not restrict President Trump&#8217;s access to\u200d any records he\u200d already had access to, and could access sensitive information that was part of the case but could not publicly\u2063 share the\u2064 sensitive information without court authorization. However, they cannot disclose the\u200b information or the existence of this information.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Defense \u2063shall discuss classified information only within the Secure Area\u2064 or in another area\u200c authorized by\u200c the CISO and shall not \u200ddiscuss \u2063or\u2064 attempt to\u2063 discuss classified information over \u200cany\u2064 telephone instrument or communication \u200bsystem, including through electronic mail or the Internet,&#8221; the order reads. The disclosure of this information would require the DOJ&#8217;s approval.<\/p>\n<h2>Gag Order Request<\/h2>\n<p>The original request had been much\u200d broader.<\/p>\n<p>A day after President Trump \u200cpleaded not guilty\u200c to four\u2063 criminal \u200bcharges, he\u200c made a post on Truth \u2064Social: &#8220;If \u2064you go after me,\u2062 I&#8217;m \u2064coming after you!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His campaign followed with videos\u2064 featuring the prosecutors in his cases, alleging &#8220;election interference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That initial Truth Social post was highlighted in Mr. Smith&#8217;s request for\u2062 a protective\u2062 order, asking Judge Chutkan to restrict\u2062 what President \u200dTrump can say about \u2062the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch a restriction is particularly\u2064 important in this case because \u2064the defendant \u200bhas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-tells-trump-to-respond-to-doj-protective-order-by-monday\/\" title=\"Federal judge orders Trump to respond to DOJ protective order by Monday.\">previously issued public statements<\/a> on \u200dsocial media \u200cregarding witnesses, \u2064judges,\u2062 attorneys, and others associated with legal matters pending against him,\u201d Mr. Smith wrote in a filing (<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23898465\/protectiveorder.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>He argued \u200cthat potential witnesses may be intimidated by the prospect of \u200bbeing featured in President Trump&#8217;s social media, achieving\u200d a &#8220;harmful chilling effect,&#8221; or otherwise influencing jurors.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump&#8217;s \u2063lawyers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/trumps-lawyer-vows-to-fight-special-counsels-protective-order-in-jan-6-case-5447683\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vowed<\/a> to\u2062 fight \u200bthe request, given its high profile nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe press\u2063 and the American\u200b people \u200cin a campaign season have a right to know what the evidence is in this\u2063 case provided that this evidence is not protected otherwise,\u201d \u2063attorney \u200cJohn Lauro told\u200d CNN. \u201cSo, we\u2019re going to oppose it.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Second Protective\u200b Order<\/h2>\n<p>In a separate case Mr. Smith is \u200bprosecuting, President \u200bTrump \u200cis \u200dfacing\u200d a trial in Florida over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-launches-2024-presidential-bid\/\" title=\"Trump Launches 2024 Presidential Bid\">allegedly mishandling classified documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the case centers around classified documents,\u2063 the DOJ and President Trump&#8217;s legal team have\u2063 been \u2062arguing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The DOJ is appointing a CISO in the case against Trump.
