Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), who \u200cchairs\u2062 the House Energy and \u2064Commerce Committee; Frank Pallone\u2064 (D-N.J.), the committee&#8217;s ranking\u200c member; Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.);\u200d and\u200d Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To\u200b date, \u2064the volume of takedown\u2064 requests has not slowed, and CPSC staff is unaware of any proactive measures Meta has taken to prevent these\u2063 postings in the \u2062future,&#8221; they noted.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062lawmakers further warned that Meta \u200dis placing its\u2063 users \u200dand their children \u2064at risk of purchasing and using a product that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bank-of-america-fined-millions-for-opening-fake-accounts-and-charging-extra-junk-fees\/\" title=\"Bank of America fined millions for fraudulent accounts and excessive fees.\">federal regulators found<\/a> to \u2064pose a serious risk \u2062of injury and potential death. They \u200balso demand that the social media\u200b company provide more information about its product safety\u200d policies, how it monitors recall warnings,\u2062 and \u200bwhether it has\u200c any staff members \u2063dedicated\u2062 to consumer product safety \u200cissues.<\/p>\n<p>Similar letters\u200d seeking information about \u2062recall compliance protocol have also been sent to more than a dozen e-commerce and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/people-who-trash-their-family-in-public-cant-be-trusted\/\" title=\"Don't trust those who publicly criticize their own family.\">social\u200c media platforms<\/a>, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, eBay, TikTok, \u2063and Shein. These companies are not accused of listing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alexander-hornung-recalls-2-3m-pounds-of-pork-over-listeria-concerns\/\" title=\"Alexander &#038; Hornung Recalls 2.3M Pounds of Pork over Listeria Concerns\">recalled products<\/a> for sale.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers asked Meta \u200cto respond by Aug. 31.<\/p>\n<p>Meta&#8217;s policy states that listings\u2064 on Facebook Marketplace cannot promote or sell\u2062 recalled products. It also encourages users to \u2064check current recalls before purchasing items. In a previous response to \u2064the CPSC, the company said posts that feature recalled\u2063 products are removed when identified.<\/p>\n<h3>Inclined Sleepers Recall<\/h3>\n<p>In January, Fisher-Price\u2064 recalled nearly \u20644.7 million units of Rock &#8216;n Play sleepers, again\u200c following reports\u200c of at \u200dleast eight infant \u200cdeaths.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 product, launched in 2009, had been sold in major stores across the United States, including \u200dWalmart, Target, and online at Amazon until the \u2062recall in \u200c2019.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>L: Recalled \u200dFisher-Price\u200c Rock \u2064\u2018n Play \u2063Sleeper. (Consumer Product Safety Commission)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the \u200btime \u200cthe initial \u2064recall was announced, over 30 fatalities were reported to\u2062 have occurred in the \u2064Rock &#8216;n Play sleepers after the infants rolled from\u2063 their back to their stomach \u2064or side while unrestrained, \u2063or under\u2064 other \u200bcircumstances, according to the\u2063 CPSC.<\/p>\n<p>A total of about\u2064 100 infant fatalities\u200c have reportedly occurred while using the sleepers, the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>Those who have\u2062 the Rock &#8216;n Play sleepers\u2064 should immediately\u200d stop using them and contact Fisher-Price for a refund or voucher, the agency\u2064 said, warning that it is illegal to sell or distribute \u2064the recalled products.<\/p>\n<p>Popular among some new parents, inclined sleepers are designed to\u2063 make\u2063 babies who have acid reflux feel more \u200ccomfortable. The idea is \u200dthat \u2064a 30-degree incline would\u2062 ease acid\u2062 reflux and make it easier for the child to fall asleep.<\/p>\n<p>Recent \u2062years have seen inclined sleepers \u2064being the subject of numerous recalls, according to American\u2063 Academy of Pediatrics (AAP),\u200d which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/recalled-baby-products-linked-to-over-100-deaths-still-being-sold-on-facebook-lawmakers-say\/\" title=\"Lawmakers claim recalled baby products causing 100+ deaths are still available on Facebook.\">monitors recalls involving baby\u2064 products<\/a>. Warning \u200dagainst using the popular item, the AAP says that babies in inclined sleepers may fall asleep in\u2064 a position that can \u200drestrict their airway or\u2063 can\u200d roll out and suffocate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The \u2062AAP\u2062 recommends infants sleep\u200b on their \u2064backs on a \u2062flat, firm surface with no soft bedding or loose objects,&#8221; the professional organization said. &#8220;In \u2064addition, infants \u200dshould share a room with their caregiver without sharing a bed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Longer Pillow Recall<\/h3>\n<p>The\u2063 Boppy Company, a Colorado-based maker of infant products,\u200b in September 2021 recalled \u200dmore than 3 \u200dmillion of its Lounger pillows.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>than 100 infant deaths.
