Trump \u200bhas opened up a\u200c 5% \u200dlead on \u2064President Joe \u2063Biden among registered voters, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/20230822_US_Premise.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Premise Data<\/a>. <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The poll shows Trump leading Biden 43-38 while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trails Biden in a hypothetical \u2062matchup 37-34.<\/p>\n<p>The poll did not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-trump-backed-sen-john-boozman-weve-got-to-hold-employers-accountable-for-hiring-illegal-aliens\/\" title=\"Exclusive \u2014 Trump-Backed Sen. John Boozman: \u2018We\u2019ve Got to Hold Employers Accountable\u2019 for Hiring Illegal Aliens\">produce good results<\/a> for the Biden White House. Sixty-seven percent\u200d of respondents said the country was on the wrong track under Biden\u2019s\u2062 leadership. In addition, \u200b51% of\u200d registered voters polled\u2062 described\u200d Biden\u2019s economy as poor. \u2064 <\/p>\n<p>That is particularly \u2063bad news \u200cfor the\u200c 46<sup>th<\/sup> president\u2063 as the economy \u2062was the\u2064 number one issue for \u2063the \u20622024 \u2062election, according to Premise\u200c Data, with 26% of \u200bregistered \u200cvoters \u200bpicking the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Trump \u2064dominated the\u2062 poll when it came to securing the Republican nomination as\u2062 well, with 60% of registered voters \u2064saying the\u200c 45<sup>th<\/sup> president should be the nominee in 2024. <\/p>\n<p>DeSantis came in second with 16% of the vote, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy in third with 6%, former Vice President Mike Pence with \u20634%, and Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and former South Carolina\u2064 Governor \u2064Nikki Haley at 3%.<\/p>\n<p>This new poll\u200b comes on the \u200beve of the first GOP presidential debate \u2062that \u200cwill not include Trump. \u200b <\/p>\n<p>Trump has opted to sit for \u2063an exclusive interview\u2063 with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as counterprogramming.\u200b Trump also announced he will be going to\u2062 Atlanta, Georgia Thursday, a day after the debate, to\u200b surrender.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cCan you believe it?
