Jared \u200bPolis. This legislation created Proposition HH, \u2064which will appear on the November ballot. Voters will decide whether to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/prop-hh-to-remain-on-november-ballot-after-colorado-supreme-court-ruling\/\" title=\"Prop HH stays on Nov ballot after CO Supreme Court ruling.\">reduce residential property tax rates<\/a>\u200b to 6.7%\u2062 and\u200c compensate for\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/more-companies-join-the-great-migration-to-red-states\/\" title=\"More Companies Join the Great Migration to Red States\">lost tax revenue<\/a> by utilizing funds\u2063 from Taxpayer&#8217;s\u200c Bill of Rights refunds.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Lawsuit Challenges\u200c Proposition HH<\/h3>\n<p>A lawsuit was filed by 12 counties, elected officials, and Advance Colorado, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-justice-department-nominee-does-about-face-on-police-protections-drug-legalization\/\" title=\"Biden Justice Department Nominee Does About Face on Police Protections, Drug Legalization\">conservative advocacy organization<\/a>, before the measure was signed into law. The lawsuit argued that\u2063 the \u200cmeasure\u200c violated the state constitution&#8217;s\u200c single-subject requirement and\u2062 that its title was not adequately clear. Additionally, it contended that a trigger law altering tax refunds if \u2064Prop HH is\u200d passed \u200dwas \u2062not lawful.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Justice Richard Gabriel stated that\u200c the constitutionality of the initiative cannot be determined &#8220;unless and until those measures have been approved \u2062by Colorado voters.&#8221; While the Supreme Court did not express an opinion on whether \u2063the ballot initiative violates the single-subject requirement, Judge \u2062Gabriel noted that the petitioners failed \u2063to establish that Proposition HH violates\u200c the clear expression requirement.<\/p>\n<p>Michael\u2064 Fields, president of Advance Colorado Institute, expressed confidence that voters will reject Prop HH, \u200cstating, &#8220;Prop HH clearly violates \u200dthe single-subject provision of our Colorado Constitution. While it should have been struck down before even going on the ballot, voters are \u2063smart \u2013 and they&#8217;ll send a clear\u2063 message to the politicians at the Capitol this November.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Senate President Steve Fenberg, a sponsor of the bill, emphasized that if voters\u2064 approve the measure, they \u2064will immediately receive property tax relief while\u200c safeguarding funding for schools, fire districts, and other \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/boston-globe-column-ron-desantis-is-white-supremacys-helicopter-parent\/\" title=\"Boston Globe Column: Ron DeSantis Is 'White Supremacy's Helicopter Parent'\">local government agencies<\/a>. He criticized &#8220;far-right Republicans&#8221; for attempting to deny hardworking families and seniors a much<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-house-and-senate-reach-property-tax-deal-after-months-of-debate\/\" title=\"Texas House and Senate finally agree on property tax deal after lengthy debate.\">-needed tax cut<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Common Sense Institute, \u2063a free enterprise research group, published a comprehensive 45-page report on Prop HH, describing it as \u2064&#8221;one of the most complicated\u200d ballot measures ever \u2064presented to \u2062voters.&#8221;\u200b According to the report, \u200dtaxpayers could potentially\u200d lose $512 per year in TABOR refunds\u200d for the next decade if the measure is approved. Furthermore, if the provisions are extended through 2040, it could result in a $42.38 billion\u2063 increase in state \u200btaxes.<\/p>\n<p>A July poll indicated that 54% of \u200cColorado voters \u2064favored Prop \u2064HH.
