Meadows&#8217;s attorneys argue that this means states cannot impede or \u2063interfere\u2063 with the actions of federal executive officials when they \u2062are carrying out federal laws. They cite a 2006 case that ruled a federal official wasn&#8217;t obligated \u200bto consider state criminal law before \u200cacting.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While his conduct is alleged to have violated state\u200c law, it &#8216;can reasonably be characterized as complying with the full range of federal law,'&#8221; Meadows&#8217;s attorneys \u200bwrote.<\/p>\n<p>They note that neither the Georgia case nor the similar case brought\u200d by the Justice \u2064Department\u2064 against\u2062 President Trump in Washington accused Meadows of violating any\u200d federal\u2064 laws.<\/p>\n<h2>Ticking\u200d Clock<\/h2>\n<p>An evidentiary \u200bhearing for Meadows&#8217;s motion for removal\u2064 has been scheduled for Aug. 28. The\u200b court has ordered Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to \u2063be served a copy of the notice immediately, with a deadline for\u2062 her response set \u2062for Aug. 23.<\/p>\n<p>Meadows \u2063is urging the court to halt the \u200dstate criminal proceedings as soon as possible,\u2064 citing the supremacy clause and Section 1442, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fulton-or-federal-trump-indictment-poised-to-set-off-court-venue-dispute\/\" title=\"Trump indictment could spark court venue dispute: Fulton or federal?\">protect federal officials<\/a> from\u2062 being prosecuted in state court. He argues that the \u200cquick timeline \u200dof \u200dthe prosecution puts his \u200cconstitutional \u2063and statutory protection at risk.<\/p>\n<p>The attorneys also highlight that Meadows&#8217;s notice to remove\u2064 the case to\u200b federal court would affect all 19 defendants,\u200c regardless of whether they have a basis to remove the \u2062case or not.<\/p>\n<p>The Fulton County indictment \u200dlists\u200d 161 acts of racketeering, \u2063with nine involving \u2064Meadows.
