She later learned it landed\u2063 on the\u2064 bed of her neighbor\u2019s 11-year-old son, who luckily was in another \u200droom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very unnerving,\u201d Ms. Flanigan said, adding\u2064 that the family had gone to stay with relatives while \u200cremoval crews came Monday morning to\u2062 remove the branches.\u200b \u201cOh my gosh,\u2062 what could\u2062 have happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maura \u2062Taura felt a similar relief after \u200ca three-story-tall \u2062tree \u2062crashed down on \u200dher daughter\u2019s\u200b two\u200b cars but missed the family\u2019s house in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank God\u2063 my family is\u2062 OK,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>A \u2064car is\u2063 partially submerged in floodwaters\u2064 as Tropical Storm Hilary moves through the area in Cathedral City, Calif., on Aug.\u2064 20, 2023. About 400 people were \u2062being sheltered at Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells, and Panamint\u200b Springs until roads could be made passable, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/4-injured-in-amusement-park-accident-in-iowa\/\" title=\"4 injured in amusement park accident in Iowa\">park officials<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>Rain came in two bursts on \u200cSunday\u2014in the morning and evening\u2014totaling 2.2 \u2063inches (5.6 centimeters) at a National Weather Service rain gauge at Furnace Creek.
