She\u200d and her\u2063 husband \u200dconsidered renting a Tesla for their trip to the Seattle area, as\u200c neither\u2064 of them had ever driven an\u200c electric vehicle before. \u200dThe price difference between \u2063a\u2062 long-range \u2063Tesla Model 3 and a standard gas-fueled vehicle was minimal, making it an \u2062appealing\u2063 option.<\/p>\n<p>However, after \u200da full week of test-driving the Tesla, Morabito came to a firm\u200c conclusion: \u2064EVs are not for her. One of her main concerns was &#8220;range\u2064 anxiety,&#8221; the\u2062 fear of\u2064 running out of battery power during a\u200b drive and being stranded without a charging station nearby. \u2063She \u200bfound that\u200b the \u200cTesla&#8217;s battery drained faster than expected, confirming her worries about range limitations.<\/p>\n<p>Another issue she encountered was \u2063the \u2063constant search for charging stations and the lengthy time\u200c it \u2064took to recharge the \u2063vehicle. This led to \u2064concerns about personal safety, as \u2064they often had to wait for extended periods\u200d in unsupervised locations. Morabito also \u2062highlighted the distraction caused by using the touch screen system while driving to find charging\u2062 stations, which contradicts the common safety advice of not\u200c texting and driving.<\/p>\n<p>Even\u2063 the windshield wipers posed a problem. This conclusion is not based on \u2064a one-hour test drive but on an entire week of \u2063driving in an EV-friendly part of\u200c the country\u2026 But all in \u2062all, it was too much hassle and\u200c too much anxiety. I\u2019m now totally\u200b sold\u2064 on gas-powered vehicles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Similar Experiences and \u2064Realizations<\/h3>\n<p>Morabito is not alone in her \u200dconclusions. Ford CEO \u2063Jim Farley also had a\u2063 reality check when he took\u200c a long trip \u2062in one of\u2064 his company&#8217;s top\u2062 EVs, the F150 Lightning. He found charging the truck\u2063 to \u2063be \u2062challenging and emphasized \u2062the importance of fast charging.<\/p>\n<p>Other journalists have also faced challenges with EVs. \u200cOne journalist&#8217;s truck \u2062ran out of battery power, \u2064leading to \u200bcomplications in \u200crecharging and even\u200c towing\u200b the vehicle.
