min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>On \u2062Friday, \u2064Taylor Blaha\u200c pleaded guilty to murdering her daughter, Kayleen Lee Blaha, in \u2062order\u2063 to hide the fact that there was\u2062 meth in the \u2063child\u2019s system.\u2064 She had given birth to the baby girl just hours\u2064 before the violent act. <\/p>\n<p>According to court filings, Blaha and\u200c Kayleen\u2019s father, 31-year-old Brandon Thoma, allegedly wrapped \u2064the newborn in trash bags and\u200d placed her in a backpack after\u2063 she was killed.<\/p>\n<p>Thoma was reportedly seen leaving their apartment with a backpack\u200c containing a heavy object\u2062 and returning 20 minutes later with an empty bag, as seen in\u2063 surveillance footage.<\/p>\n<p>Blaha stated\u200c that she was ingesting meth at\u2064 the time \u2064of her\u200b delivery. \u2063 <\/p>\n<p>She also stated that both she and the child\u2019s father \u200bwere afraid that if it became known to child\u200c services that \u2064she was using hard drugs, they would have lost \u2062custody of their other 2-year-old son.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cBrandon Thoma convinced me\u200b that \u2062if DHS (Department of Homeland \u2063Security) found out about my meth use, \u2063they would take\u200c my son from me, and I\u2064 would\u2062 never see him again,\u201d she said.\u2062 \u201cHe convinced \u2062me that \u2062the only way out of this was\u2064 to drown the baby in the bathtub.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She also \u200dstated that since\u2064 her and \u2063Thoma did not want to raise\u200b another child together, a family member\u200c was\u200c going to adopt Kayleen later on. <\/p>\n<p>A judge in Iowa sentenced Blaha to\u2063 50 years in prison \u2063and she will be forced to\u2064 serve at least 70% of the\u200b sentencing,\u200b which \u2062amounts to 35 years, before any possibility\u200c of parole. <\/p>\n<p>Thoma had initially been charged with first-degree murder but accepted \u200ca plea deal that downgraded the\u200d charge against \u200bhim.
