They should have taken my\u2064 classes!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Take the aptly-named Progressive Insurance (who seem never to avoid one progressive cause or another).<\/p>\n<p>Progressive, longtime home\u2062 of fictional spokesperson \u201cFlo,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/progressive-insurance-awards-250-000-to-black-entrepreneurs-through-driving-small-business-forward-grant-program-301901263.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced Tuesday<\/a> the names of 10 \u200dentrepreneurs receiving $25,000 each to purchase a commercial vehicle for their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Good news, no? Except for this: applications for \u200dthe Progressive grants were limited strictly to black\u200c business people. So\u2062 a \u2064publicly-traded corporation made a decision solely on \u2064race.<\/p>\n<p>You didn\u2019t have to take one of \u200dmy classes to \u2062see where\u200d this would go.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 day after\u200d Progressive\u2019s announcements of\u2063 the grant recipients, Nathan \u200bRoberts \u200cand his Freedom Truck \u200bDispatch stole the insurance giant\u2019s public relations thunder.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts filed\u200c suit over the grants in a <a href=\"https:\/\/media.aflegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/17123207\/1-Complaint-8.16.2023.pdf?_ga=2.72532246.400353073.1692375583-1744772783.1692375583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-announces-new-legal-team-for-impeachment-defense-after-previous-team-collapsed\/\" title=\"Trump Announces New Legal Team For Impeachment Defense After Previous Team Collapsed\">federal district court<\/a><\/a> in Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>You can guess the reason \u2014 Roberts is white, and Progressive\u2019s\u200b grant program \u2062is blatantly discriminatory and, according to Roberts\u2019 lawsuit, illegal.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts\u2019 action became a media story from <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/08\/18\/progressive-sued-for-offering-25k-grants-to-black-entrepreneurs-only\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12421139\/Progressive-insurance-sued-patently-unlawful-racism-offering-25-000-grants-help-black-owned-businesses-buy-vehicles-ruling-whites-Asians-Latinos-others.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London<\/a>. And Roberts and his lawyers, including those of the\u2063 America \u2064First Legal Foundation, want to make this a class \u2062action suit.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cPlaintiffs\u200d Nathan Roberts and Freedom Truck Dispatch bring suit to enjoin Progressive from continuing \u2064these \u200cracially discriminatory practices,\u201d \u2062said the court filing in the United \u2064States District Court for the \u200dNorthern District of Ohio\u2019s Eastern Division.<\/p>\n<p>The suit further\u2062 sought to \u201crecover classwide damages on behalf of everyone who\u200b has \u2062suffered unlawful \u200dracial \u2063discrimination\u2063 on account of \u2063this program.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Looks like Flo \u200band Co. have a\u200c problem.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>That\u2019s especially true since \u2062Roberts, a Progressive customer, received a\u200b May 24 solicitation to \u2063apply for a grant aimed at small businesses seeking a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>He began\u2063 filling out the grant application when he discovered he couldn\u2019t qualify since\u2064 he was white.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062solicitation said \u2063research \u200dindicated that\u200b black business operators had difficulty \u200bobtaining\u200d capital, so \u200bthe program was limited\u200c to\u200b those\u200d individuals, according to court \u2062documents.<\/p>\n<p>AFL Vice-President Gene Hamilton, a lawyer in the case, indicated Roberts\u2019 suit was broad-reaching against major corporations that bring \u201cracial considerations\u2063 into every aspect \u200dof their business operations, \u2064employment practices, and \u200dso much more,\u201d the U.K.\u2019s\u200c Daily Mail reported.<\/p>\n<p>Dave \u2064Seminara,\u200b who \u2064keeps track \u200bof \u201cwoke\u201d corporations \u200c(440 as of this month), of\u200b course has Progressive <a href=\"https:\/\/daveseminara.com\/complete-list-of-woke-companies-condemning-so-called-racist-voting-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on his \u200clist<\/a>. And there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/non-woke-companys-job-ad-attracts-major-attention-no-requirements-pronouns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">growing pushback<\/a> \u200b against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/state-attorneys-general-fire-shot-across-bow-woke-corporations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">left-leaning politico-business<\/a> practices.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative activists at \u200da \u200b2022 Progressive \u200cstockholders \u2062meeting in Mayfield Village,\u2062 Ohio, said Progressive\u2019s \u200dhiring practices favoring women and minorities discriminated against white men, according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/may\/17\/progressive-ceo-defends-racial-and-gender-based-hi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To which Progressive \u2064CEO Tricia Griffith responded: \u201cWe think \u2063it\u2019s very important to have a\u2064 fair and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stanford-mental-health-workers-say-university-counseling-ignores-and-intimidates-jews\/\" title=\"Stanford Mental Health Workers Say University Counseling Ignores and Intimidates Jews\">inclusive work environment<\/a>,\u2064 reflect\u200d the customers we serve and for our leaders to reflect the people they lead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that \u2064diversity,\u200d equity and inclusion is an important part of our growth and just the right thing to do,\u201d Griffith said.<\/p>\n<p>Try\u2062 as they\u200d might\u2062 to focus on social and political issues, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/woke-companies-grotesque-reaction-fall-roe-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">woke corporations<\/a> ultimately must deal with customers, left and right.<\/p>\n<p>And on large and small scales, customers and stockholders are \u200dresponding.<\/p>\n<p>Back to \u2062my\u200c days as a \u200bbusiness professor.<\/p>\n<p>Our university once had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-insurance-company-facing-major-lawsuit-after-white-trucking-dispatcher-realizes-he-was-discriminated-against\/\" title=\"Leading insurance company sued for discrimination by white trucking dispatcher.\">sharp young part-time instructor<\/a> who was setting up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/like-creepy-neighbor-insider-blows-whistle-state-farm-indoctrinating-5-year-olds-trans-ideology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Farm Insurance<\/a> office.
