This review aims to ensure that the\u200c standards in place reflect the latest scientific advancements and effectively protect people&#8217;s health from \u200dthe harmful effects of \u200dpollutants.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200bEPA is committed to considering the\u2064 valuable policy recommendations provided by the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC), an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/latest-fda-scandal-further-proves-why-we-cant-trust-them\/\" title=\"Latest FDA Scandal Further Proves Why We Can\u2019t Trust Them\">independent advisory panel<\/a> for the agency. By incorporating CASAC&#8217;s insights, the EPA aims to conduct\u2063 a thorough evaluation and review \u200cof the current standards.<\/p>\n<h3>Pressure Mounts on DeSantis Ahead of First GOP\u2064 Debate<\/h3>\n<p>EPA Administrator Michael Reagan expressed the importance of CASAC&#8217;s input in\u200b a recently published letter, stating, &#8220;CASAC&#8217;s careful review has identified several issues arising in the reconsideration\u200d that warrant additional evaluation and review, both by the EPA and by CASAC. This includes newly available information that has not yet been integrated into the \u2062air quality criteria and the value of developing additional analyses to inform further evaluation of the current standards.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In October 2021, the EPA announced its \u200dintention to reevaluate the Trump\u2062 administration&#8217;s decision to\u2063 maintain the current air quality standards for ozone, which stood at 70 parts per billion. CASAC had recommended a stricter limit of between 55 and 60 parts per billion.<\/p>\n<p>However, the EPA&#8217;s decision to delay the review \u200cof ozone standards has faced criticism from\u200d environmental\u200b groups. These\u200b groups\u200d are urging the agency to swiftly \u2064fulfill its promise of reviewing\u2064 the previous administration&#8217;s requirements.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a result of today&#8217;s decision, if the EPA \u2063doesn&#8217;t pick up the \u2063pace, the agency \u2062would likely\u200d complete its review in the late 2020s, denying communities any chance of stronger ozone standards until implementation began sometime in the early 2030s,&#8221; expressed EarthJustice in a press statement. &#8220;Environmental advocacy groups condemn the decision as\u2062 scientifically, legally, and morally insupportable, especially considering\u2064 the mounting evidence of\u200c the adverse health impacts and environmental damage caused by ozone pollution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Delaying the decision could also shift the responsibility to another administration,\u200d potentially allowing the EPA to avoid a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/epa-delays-review-of-ozone-standard-drawing-ire-from-green-groups\/\" title=\"EPA's ozone standard review delayed, angering green groups.\">politically challenging choice leading<\/a> up to the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>The EPA has outlined its next steps following this decision. These steps include issuing a call for \u200binformation \u2062in the Federal Register within the next few days, organizing a public science \u2062and policy workshop in the spring of next year to gather input\u2064 from the \u2063scientific community and the \u2063public, and incorporating these\u200b findings into the review process.
