They argue\u200c that these requirements force \u200cthem to adopt the government&#8217;s perspective \u200con\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/meanwhile-in-seattle-ice-cream-shop-offers-free-milkshake-with-proof-of-vasectomy\/\" title=\"Meanwhile, in Seattle: Ice Cream Shop Offers Free Milkshake With Proof of Vasectomy\">politically charged topics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The professors, who teach at three Fresno-area community colleges, have\u200d enlisted the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) to represent\u2063 them in\u2062 a federal lawsuit. \u2064They claim\u200c that\u200c the DEIA requirements violate their constitutional rights under \u200bthe First and Fourteenth\u2062 Amendments.<\/p>\n<p>One of the professors, Bill Blanken from Reedley College, questions \u2064how he can\u200d incorporate DEIA into\u200d his chemistry\u2063 instruction. He humorously asks, &#8220;What&#8217;s the &#8216;anti-racist&#8217; perspective on the atomic mass \u2063of boron?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit highlights Blanken&#8217;s \u2062belief that DEIA principles should \u2062not be integrated into his chemistry classes, as he considers it pedagogically unsound and disruptive.<\/p>\n<p>The other \u2062professors involved in the suit are \u200cJames Druley,\u2063 David Richardson, Linda de Morales, \u2064Loren Palsgaard of Madera Community College, and\u2063 Michael\u2062 Stannard of Clovis Community College. They are suing \u200cCalifornia Community \u2064Colleges Chancellor \u2064Sonya Christian,\u2063 the\u2062 State Board of Governors, and State\u200c Center Community College.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-college-professors-sue-over-state-dei-requirements\/\" title=\"California college professors file lawsuit against state DEI requirements.\">professors fear facing disciplinary action<\/a> or \u200btermination if they do not comply with\u200c California community \u200ccollege DEIA requirements.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professors must develop an understanding of the intersectionality of\u200b social identities and\u2062 the\u200d various \u200cforms of oppression faced by different \u2062racial, ethnic,\u2064 and minoritized \u2064groups.<\/li>\n<li>They are\u2063 directed\u200d to teach \u200dfrom a\u200c collectivism perspective and\u200b a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/missouri-school-district-spends-15k-on-critical-race-theory-audit\/\" title=\"Missouri School District Spends K on Critical Race Theory Audit\">social justice lens<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;These regulations are a totalitarian triple-whammy,&#8221; says FIRE attorney Daniel Ortner. &#8220;The government \u200bis forcing professors to teach and\u2064 preach a politicized viewpoint\u200c they do \u2063not \u200cshare,\u200d imposing\u200c incomprehensible guidelines, and threatening punishment \u200dfor crossing an arbitrary, indiscernible line.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The glossary of DEIA terms \u200cprovided by California reveals that the guidelines aim to promote specific ideological \u2062beliefs, according to FIRE.<\/p>\n<p>The definition of \u2063anti-racist states\u200d that individuals\u2062 are \u200deither anti-racist or racist, and those who claim to\u2062 be &#8220;not\u200b a racist&#8221; are in denial \u200bof existing\u200b inequities and racial problems.<\/p>\n<p>The glossary \u2063also suggests that the concept of &#8220;merit&#8221; is associated\u200c with &#8220;whiteness,&#8221; protecting white privilege under the guise of standards and \u200dhindering\u200b opportunities \u200dfor racial minorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six California college professors are suing the state, claiming that diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) requirements infringe on their freedom by imposing the government&#8217;s stance on &#8220;politically charged&#8221; matters.
