CLARY\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/daniel-baldwin\">Daniel\u2062 Baldwin<\/a><br \/>10:38 AM \u200c\u2013 Monday, August 21, 2023<\/p>\n<h2>Trump Leads\u2064 in Iowa Poll Ahead of GOP Primary Debate<\/h2>\n<p>Former President Donald \u2062Trump has built \u200da 23-percentage-point \u2064lead over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, according to a \u2064closely watched \u200bIowa poll \u200creleased before the first\u2062 GOP primary\u200d debate.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The poll, conducted by \u200cthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/politics\/iowa-poll\/caucus\/2023\/08\/21\/iowa-poll-donald-trump-holds-commanding-lead-5-months-to-caucuses\/70624481007\/\">Des \u2064Moines\u2064 Register<\/a>, shows that the 45<sup>th<\/sup> president is the first choice\u2062 with 42% \u200cof \u201clikely Republican \u2064caucusgoers.\u201d DeSantis (R-Fla.) is the \u2063first choice of 19%, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) comes \u2063in third with 9%.<\/p>\n<p>Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) and former \u2063Vice President are \u200dtied\u200d at 6%, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R-N.Y.) at 5%, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy comes in at 4%.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Trump Advisor Jason Miller celebrated the news \u2062on X, formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cAmong actual GOPers, POTUS 45\u2019s lead grows to 51-20,\u201d Miller \u200dwrote.\u2064 \u201c19% surveyed \u200chave Caucused for\u2064 Dems &#038; 25% ID\u2063 as [independents]. As Miller pointed\u2062 out, 66% of likely caucusgoers who picked\u200c Trump as their first\u2064 choice said their mind was made up. <\/p>\n<p>The poll also revealed that \u2062the 45<sup>th<\/sup> president \u200cleads \u2063DeSantis among self-identified Republicans by \u200b51%-20%. And, to add to that, Trump has built up a \u2063big lead\u2062 among Evangelical voters, a demographic many\u2064 pollsters and\u2064 candidates view as key to winning Iowa. \u206347% of\u200d Evangelicals \u2063say Trump is their first choice, as 20% say DeSantis is theirs. <\/p>\n<p>The poll was conducted between Aug. 13-17\u200b and \u2064polled more than 400 likely Republican caucusgoers. 25% of the poll\u2019s respondents were self-identified\u2064 Independents who said they \u200cwould likely caucus with the\u200b Republicans this year. <\/p>\n<p>RealClearPolitics polling average showed Trump holding an \u2062even \u2062bigger advantage in \u2062Iowa, leading DeSantis by\u2063 26%.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
