Known as the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-pentagon-to-make-entrance-exams-easier-amid-military-recruiting-crisis\/\" title=\"Pentagon to simplify entrance exams due to military recruitment crisis.\">test assesses academic aptitude<\/a> and determines the military jobs candidates are qualified for. The exact date of implementation for this change remains unknown.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We are taking a systematic approach, which will assess the impact \u2064of\u200c calculator use, and\u2064 we are developing a\u2064 way forward for calculator inclusion,&#8221; a Pentagon representative told Military.com.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Lowering Entrance Standards to Address Recruiting Crisis<\/h3>\n<p>This alteration in testing policy\u2064 is just one example of the military&#8217;s efforts to accommodate\u2062 a larger pool of candidates \u200dfor service. In\u200d June 2022, the Army <a href=\"https:\/\/www.military.com\/daily-news\/2022\/06\/24\/army-drops-requirement-high-school-diploma-amid-recruiting-crisis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eliminated<\/a> the\u200b requirement for\u2064 potential recruits\u2063 to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">high school diploma<\/a> or GED certificate. Similarly, the Navy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2022\/12\/06\/navy-lowers-entrance-exam-requirements-in-bid-to-get-more-recruits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> a \u200breduction in admittance standards, allowing individuals with lower scores on certain parts of the\u200c entrance\u2062 exam to join.<\/p>\n<p>The Defense Department&#8217;s continuous lowering of entrance \u2064standards is a response to the recruiting crisis\u200b faced by U.S. military branches. In April, the Military Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2023\/04\/19\/army-navy-and-air-force-predict-recruiting-shortfalls-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> projected recruiting shortfalls in the thousands for the U.S. Navy, \u200dAir Force, and Army this year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Air Force is estimated \u200bto fall short by approximately 3,400 recruits.<\/li>\n<li>The Navy is \u2064projected to\u2064 miss its goal by 6,000 recruits.<\/li>\n<li>The Army is expected to have a shortfall of 10,000 \u2062recruits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The situation has become so dire that Navy leadership <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/02\/report-unable-to-meet-recruiting-targets-the-u-s-navy-is-turning-to-drag-queens-for-help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recently<\/a> enlisted the help of Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/i-cant-believe-i-fought-for-this-bullsh-t-navy-seal-who-killed-bin-laden-blasts-pentagon-for-drag-queen-gimmick\/\" title=\"Navy SEAL who killed Bin Laden criticizes Pentagon for drag queen performance.\">active-duty drag queen<\/a> known as Harpy Daniels,\u200d to serve \u200cas a &#8220;Navy Digital Ambassador&#8221; and attract potential candidates through digital platforms.<\/p>\n<h3>DEI Ideology and Recruiting Crisis<\/h3>\n<p>While factors like poor fitness levels \u2062among potential recruits may \u200dcontribute to\u2064 the\u200b recruiting crisis, another significant reason is the Biden administration&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/woke-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">embrace<\/a> of DEI ideology within the military. DEI, which stands for &#8220;diversity, equity, and inclusion,&#8221; is a divisive ideology that disregards merit and discriminates based on characteristics\u2064 such as race and sexual orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Since President Biden took office, the Pentagon \u2062has consistently <a href=\"https:\/\/media.defense.gov\/2021\/May\/17\/2002645340\/-1\/-1\/0\/DON%20DIVESITY%20EQUITY%20AND%20INCLUSION%20PLANNING%20ACTIONS.PDF\/DON%20DIVESITY%20EQUITY%20AND%20INCLUSION%20PLANNING%20ACTIONS.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mandated<\/a> that its leadership promote DEI throughout its ranks. This promotion of \u200dso-called &#8220;diversity&#8221; and &#8220;inclusion&#8221; has often resulted in\u2063 preferential treatment for self-identifying LGBT soldiers. For instance, the Air Force authorized its military bases to host events commemorating &#8220;pride month&#8221;\u200d and even used taxpayer funds to fly service members \u2062to \u200b&#8221;pride&#8221; events in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden has also appointed military leaders who embrace DEI for\u200c high-ranking positions within the service. One such nominee is Col. Benjamin Jonsson, a DEI advocate, who was nominated to become a brigadier general. In an article, Jonsson claimed that &#8220;white colonels&#8221;\u200d are the &#8220;biggest barriers&#8221; \u200dto\u2063 addressing so-called &#8220;racial injustice&#8221; in the military and recommended \u200creading Robin DiAngelo&#8217;s <em>White Fragility: Why It&#8217;s So Hard\u200b for White People to Talk About\u200d Racism<\/em>, a book that promotes divisive ideologies \u2062like\u200d critical race theory.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts by congressional Republicans to \u2062eliminate DEI \u200bfrom the U.S. military have faced resistance from the Biden administration, which baselessly defends these policies by asserting that they &#8220;promote a cohesive and \u200binclusive force.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of \u2064Mary Washington.
